I don't camp a lot - in fact it is usually out on my farm when my son has buddies over...but for limited outings this has been very comfortable...this is when we first got it and (my son) showed me how to set it up (no I don't camp in my garage). IMG_2176.jpg

Side view - out on our property... still not too far from the garage though. These are a nice value for the occasional use. My son is not a huge fan...he is a different type of camper/ hiker (50-100 mile treks with minimal gear)...but for me this is a good value! Good luck.

Yes, a ground tent and bed tent are similar, with the ground tent being a little easier. You get more size options, you dont have to take the tent down when you take the truck out.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. Just what I needed. Been reading other threads and I believe this is where we are at.

first I’m 67 and my bride is 63. Even though we are both fairly active and have both camped a lot (5 kids, boys out leader.. my favorite camping is in the winter as long as it stays under 27 degrees). But that was years ago. The thought of setting up a tent high off the ground seems almost as bad as at ground level therefore truck bed.

im concerned about storage while camping so considering a platform just on the wheel wells And an air mattress after all I’ve got a 110 outlet right there.

no shell as I use my truck as a truck too. I enjoy letting a front end loader do the heavy work.

my next camping trip, where I plan on using this, is early next month in Leadville Colorado at just over 10,000 feet for the base camp. It’s going to be great!

so to those who own the Ridgeline, how is it in the wind? Actual experience please.

The rightline is a pretty nice tent, the side flaps go down pretty far and there is a flap that overhangs on the inside too. The big thing I like is there is no floor to the tent. I can set it up without unloading the bed of the truck if I want to. Also makes cleaning very easy because I can just spray out the bed and not worry about dirt getting on the tent itself.

Just make sure you get the right one for your bed. They have 5 foot, 6 foot and 8 foot

    https://rightlinegear.com/truck-tents/truck-tents/

Here is the video I watched when I decided to get the rightline tent. He has a short bed and I have a long bed, but the setup and features are the same.

The only think I wish is that the tents were not so darn ugly ... this seems like a good short term option. I may pair this with a ground tent I already have (with cots) so I have added sleeping space for the family. Just wish they weren't so butt ugly ... but I fully realize that is shallow of me ... and also a personal preference.

Great option though for the price ... and definitely worth a shot ...

    2nd that these are badass.

When I went to Iceland there was a company you could rent these from instead of getting and Airbnb or hotel, and just travel the island

Yes - yes I can (LOL). My only drawback is when I built the house/garage, while I insulated the garage, but did not run duct work, so it's a bit toasty during the summer months for this old man.

Just ordered the Rightline tent. Should be here by tomorrow 9pm. Now shopping for mattress. Thinking queen size as I don’t sleep alone...
