Thanks for the info. Appreciated. I've never done anything 'offroad' other than maintained dirt roads. It looks like a beautiful place, and it's probably not too crowded on the weekdays.

I understand. I do. I have hesitations, but I need to get the F away from everything for a bit.

Thank you for the offer, I'll hopefully have cell service.

    Afternoon PA!

Managed to help my friend get a new to her truck yesterday. She's been driving the same 99' GMC Sonoma 4wd 5 speed since new and 200K miles. Runs great, but it has been rusting faster than we can fix it! That and daily driving the standard was getting old. Someone had a 03' S10 4wd auto for sale a mile down the road from her with only 84K. Had been garaged most of its life and the underneath is almost bone dry. Frame is cleaner than my truck even. Interior is also almost showroom. Paid a decent sum of money, but any 4wd around here is overpriced. We've been trying to get her in a newer truck for a couple years now, but everything was too big for her (even my Tacoma was little too big). Gonna bring it up here, pull all the tires off and make a short list of stuff it needs. Also gonna oil coat the underside before winter.

That's not a bear gun. I would have brought my shotgun if I needed a bear or Bigfoot gun.
Took a drive around Michaux today. Saw a lot of tacos out.

I dont know that area but I've seen some private roads leading into the state forest roads get gnarly due to lack of maintenance.
This is the big puddle I showed earlier in this thread. Earlier in the year I turned around when I took my crosstrek.

So basically the same shape as the paved roads are around here

Seriously you'll knock your teeth out driving down the mountain. The 143K mile shocks on my truck have no chance in that section. Feels just about as bad in the GTI with the low profile tires. I'd love to go with 5100's in my truck, but feel real uneasy about spring compressors...

The parks are all packed! It’s crazy!
In the past two weeks, I have been to 10 to 15 state and local parks/forests in both PA and WV, and I couldn’t believe how many people there were.

I guess the months of isolation really got to people and now they are getting outdoors as much as possible. I guess I’m one of them.

I've been driving some of the same areas for years and I have never seen it so packed. Tuscarora wasn't bad at all but that was a couple days ago when the weather was bad. I'm going to check it out again tomorrow in my subie.

Thanks. Its a great second vehicle toy truck I'm falling back in love with it.

Edit to ad. If i could pick only one of the two for driving on maintained state forest reads i pick the crosstrek. I think it has a great ride.

Yeah if you plan on keeping the truck I would treat it with fluid film before winter. Doesn't take long before the rust sets in.

Bar chain oil and mineral spirits (or Kerosene) 50/50 mix. Shit's greasy but stays on there a whole lot better than Fluid Film. I've found FF washes off easy. And needs recoated a couple times a winter. I'll tell ya I'm not getting my ass out there in the cold on the ground recoating.
