Ok I’ve got a dumb backspacing question. I’m running 255/85r16’s on stock steel 16x7 wheels (5” backspacing). If I go by the chart below, I should get wheels with 4” backspacing to clear these? Or, with a 33” tire, would I just need a wheel with 4.75” minimum? Just trying to figure out why the wider 285’s need less backspace than 255’s. Most of the wheels I want to run have 4.5” backspacing.

Do you need to loosen the bolt before you grease them?

I would say call him .. That's what I did , told him exactly what tire and wheel I was going to use , he had a calculator handy and told me how much clearance I would have .

I don’t think so or at least i didn’t, I believe that’s what the new style bushings are meant to correct.

Late to the game here... new style of bushing... when did this happen? I ordered and installed my set in October. So, doubtful I have the new bushings, but want to confirm?

That i’m not too sure. I ordered and installed mine late May and mine had em as they were advertised. Only way i’d say you could check is emailing jba or loosening the through bolt to where you can back the washer off the bushing and see if it has the notches for the grease to come out. Mine also came with a sheet describing the new bushings inside the box.

Inner washers were a pain, but it can be done. For my second side I put the small washer in the freezer and that helped install a bit I think. Also don’t go the lazy route and install the long bolt backwards. Do it right and install it the same way it came out. That too is possible and can be done with patience.

^^^ this guys right on the money. I watched so many uca install videos the week leading up to the weekend i was gonna install the control arms and new coils and figured i’d studied enough it would be a breeze (it wasn’t). Patience is definitely key.

So for anyone wondering. I have 255 skinnies installed on my stock OR rims (16x7 + 25mm), and I was rubbing on the JBA UCAs. Now, JBA states this will happen right in their description so it's my fault for not seeing this before buying them. To remedy this I installed 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. These seem to solve fitment issues. No rubbing on the UCA, and I should have enough room to clear my cab mount.

EDIT: I am rubbing slightly on my cab mount. Going to try and get my caster a little higher, otherwise I will probably have to CMC.

Ahhh okay - thanks for the follow up. Upon closer inspection this afternoon I don't see those notches in the bushings but oh well! I'll just continue backing out the bolt a bit before adding grease.

Quoting myself here. With 255 85R16s, stock OR rims (16x7 +25) and 1.25" spacers, I am clear of the UCAs, but slightly rubbing on my cab mount. I reached out Marlin about going to a different wheel (without the spacer) and he sent me this chart for that tire size:

    BFG K02s at 255/85 R16 (33.10" x 10") 10.0" wide tire:
10.0" wide tire, if the factory wheel is 7.0" wide, you need a 4.50" backspace or smaller to clear the JBA ucas.
10.0" wide tire, if the factory wheel is 7.5" wide, you need a 4.75" backspace or smaller to clear the JBA ucas.
10.0" wide tire, if the factory wheel is 8.0" wide, you need a 5.00" backspace or smaller to clear the JBA ucas.
10.0" wide tire, if the factory wheel is 8.5" wide, you need a 5.25" backspace or smaller to clear the JBA ucas.
10.0" wide tire, if the wheel is 9" wide, you need a 5.5" backspace or smaller to clear the JBA ucas.
10.0" wide tire, the above will have .225” tire clearance to the JBA arms at full lock of the steering wheel, with that wheel and tire setup.

I am looking at a 16x8 wheel with 4.5" of BS. According to this chart, I should clear the UCAs, correct? A 16x8 wheel (0 offset / 4.5" of BS) is only going to move my tire .27" closer to the UCA from where it is now (16x7 +25 with 1.25" spacer), compared to moving it .78" closer to the UCA by going with the 16x8 5" BS wheel Marlin recommends. I think that quarter inch is going to be enough for me to clear my cab mount. I just want to make sure I am thinking this through correctly. Of course, I might just CMC and save a ton of money but just trying to think through all my options first.

I have tried to contact JBA three or four times over the last couple weeks and no one responds. Maybe Covid related? IDK? Maybe they are all sick in their shop and can not be bothered to answer an email. Dirt King has responded to every question I have asked. Maybe one of you will know... I think the answer is yes it will fit but I would like to make sure. I have 265/75R16 on Zero Offset 16in Methods. Will the JBA's have any fitment issues?

No, you shouldn't have any issues and that will be fine.

That was my thought. Any tire 32.7 and under will be AOK. Thanks.

sadly the lift wont be able to go on until september, as the rear shocks are on backorder. everything else should show up in a few weeks.

this is my tacoma on stock suspension ATM. bumper was just installed prior to this pic, then the downpour happened...
