    Lots--
I have been wanting to post in these forums for years! Finally decided to get a brand new Tacoma; my first Toyota too-- I have driven manual transmission since I was a kid so I made the decision to hold off until I could find a white 4x4 that was a true 6spd manual. Found one in Houston, flew down yesterday am after putting a small deposit down and drove it back before dinner.

    My goals with this forum:

    1. meet cool people and make some new friends
    2. learn everything i can about my tacoma
    3. plan and build/mod my taco with a knowledgeable community
    4. research what is possible and what I might not yet know is possible
    5. meet with others in dfw and oklahoma
I love the truck so far--- I ordered a leveling kit to give it a better stance/clearance and might swap the tires for 33 MTs.

Any feedback on this kit and or suggestions of ANY sort, I am all ears; From the looks it won't be too hard to slap on. My buddy has a lift and is a mechanic. I've done several suspension lifts back in the day when all we had were paper written instructions with a couple sketches. Anyone else remember these days???

I am super excited to know that Toyota is great about warranty and what you decide to mod. What kinds of things should I avoid if I don't want to worry about voiding the 100k 10 year warranty? Free synthetic oil changes at Autonation Toyota every 5k. Not a bad deal-- I want to do cold air etc-- simple bolt on stuff but also some exhaust work and more suspension lift probably too.

    A little about me:

I sell fiber and DC services in and out of China/APAC; other than teaching English a year in Seoul, I have worked exclusively in telcom/IT sales the past 11 years. I used to own and operate a organic cannabis grow and processing facility near Tulsa, OK. I have 2 kids, that are just starting school online this fall and hopefully in person at the end of September.

Currently living in North Texas near the airport and spend lots of time here and in Oklahoma at our family farm near OSU Stillwater.

Thanks for having me I look forward to virtually meeting you all! (for now)-- Enjoy the pics. :D

    -Justin

Yep...same as me. I got this one two days ago. I really wanted the long bed so I settled for AT and white but now the color has really grown on me. I don't think I'll change anything about the truck. Maybe 1" spacers on the struts and some black lettering for the tailgate and a brush guard up front since I'm a hunter. When the factory tires go I'll replace them with some proper all terrain or OR shoes. I just can't complain about the truck. Rides like shit on the highway but its one of the quirks I love about it. And its a nearly 100% true 4wd with a locking rear diff.

Welcome to the money pit of mod insanity

So leveling kit until you burn through the stock tires? Then a quality suspension lift and a cab mount chop, pinch weld fold and some trimming of the fenders and wheel wells and you'll be ready for those 33" M/T's

Ohhhhh wait a minute......hold the phone...you bought the extended warranty :annoyed:Forget about the lift, bigger tires and the goodies that go along with it. Keep it stock or you will in fact encounter resistance when needing warranty work AND any recalls that may be issued for your truck. They wouldn't touch my lifted (2-1/2")2018 when I brought it in for the TSS recall. All they needed to do was silicone the housing to keep water from possibly getting in. They told me since I had a lift they couldn't do a thing for me and sent me on my way. Hurry a get those 100k miles put on the OD so you can do the mods you want and not stress about the money you spent on the extended warrenty.o_O

Welcome and have fun in your new Tacoma!

I’ll call and talk to the finance guy— he promised me the extended warranty wouldn’t matter if I lifted it right away. I wouldn’t have bought it if that was the case.

Of course thats what the salesman said. His job is to sell you something you will never need and tell you what he needs to to make the sale. Say its true what he says about the extended warranty what about the initial 36k mile warranty that comes with the truck? The lift and bigger tires will void that warranty and thats whats covering your vehicle for the first 36 months or 36k miles. I would return the extended useless warranty (its a Toyota) and mod your rig the way you want and never look back. But thats just me

The guy said the regular warranty and the extended aren’t voided up to 6” of suspension lift and people do it to clear 33” tires. Also the oil changes. Free every 5k miles. That shouldn’t make a difference. But yeah I’ll cal tomorrow and report back

Get that in writing or he never said it.

Lift advice that most are far to lazy to do: torque your bushings off correctly and on the ground (or alignment rack.) That way the bushings will not be in a bind causing a rough or jittery ride and also won't wear prematurely. It's quick and easy, paintmarking is a great idea too so you're not on here asking about a noise that you can't locate after the lift was put on. Get a UV marker if you don't want white, yellow or whatever marks everywhere.

Otherwise, welcome! I have a twin to your truck, had it since December and absolutely love it!

Favorite mod: focal speakers, kicker loaded sub, kicker key 200.4 and 500.1 with sound deadening in the doors. So, so clean and warm sounding. If music is your thing, think about it and feel free to ask me about it. With the back seats up, you can't see a thing, it's such a clean setup.

    Enjoy your new taco!
