So VA will fail you for having a light bar? What's the rationale for that?

I’m pretty sure as long as you have a covering for it, you should be good. Just be sure to have said covering on at the time of inspection.

Pretty sure code allows for white bulb and white reflectors as aux lights above headlights, but typically to be safe folks cover or disconnect switches, or the lights themselves.

Here's a little light Monday Morning reading for your entertainment!

Got the welder setup yesterday and welded a couple 16 gauge coupons onto a 1/8" sheet. Mostly a splattery mess, I need to play with the settings but it was too damn hot in the garage to stay at it for too long. Welding is definitely a winter sport! Pretty pumped though to finally see some sparks. :welder:

You have to have a covering for it unless it meets certain criteria, but inspectors can be so hit or miss so it was just easier to take 20 min and remove all the lights

Yeah you won't win an argument with the code in hand, just correct or move to a different station. Technicality gotchas like this, that have no safety impact, or while operating aux lights in compliance with Va. Code while on public roads.

Now get me on brakes (lighting, pad, etc.), tire tread, etc. sure thing let's get it righted and move on.

Once I add ditch lights, I figured either removed the switch harness connection, or button/switch...or pull off the pods (if I don't have covers).

Most people that I know that have ditch lights have always passed inspection with covers on. I haven’t heard of anyone being failed for it with them on.

Even beer koozies per TakoToy's own experience...I was talking with a Rubicon owner at the gas station just before CV lockdown and all, he said he had them fail him because "They could be turned on when high beams were on". The owner was like...um you don't inspect them when covers are on. He left the small shop and went to the dealership and not a word said other than to come get it, inspection was done.

Safe to say Lights won't be an issue for ol'Rand

Some inspectors are weird I suppose. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve only ever used two inspectors for my T4R and have never had any issues with either of them. That sounds awfully silly to me
