Toyota wheels don't fit my Tacoma?

I bought some used 16" Toyota rims and tires, and for some reason when I mount them onto my truck (4x4, 05 Tacoma TRD Off Road, Extended Cab), the inside of the rim near the centre pushes up against the caliper when I tighten them down, preventing the rim from being able to spin. Is this normal, or do I happen to have some aftermarket callipers that are bigger than usual? The truck is a pretty recent purchase.

I'm replacing some 33" tires that are too big for my truck that the last owner put on, and they rub like crazy and create annoying vibrations all the time. The guy I bought them from said they would fit a Tacoma, and I believe they're 4runner rims like in this pic: Screen Shot 2020-07-21 at 12.55.17 PM.jpg

I wouldn't be surprised if "the wrong" 16s don't fit. The stock rims on my 2018 look to be millimeters away from the calipers.

Not all 16” wheels will work. It’s a wheel issue not the caliper.

You will need to grind down the caliper (many have gone this route) or get 17's

Are you sure they're 16"? Toyota made some 15" wheels that look just like that.

    Always something
Proper offset will play a part as well. Most Toyota 6 lugs are 7” or 7.5” width. Most are 30 offset with some 15 offset. Assuming you’re wanting to stick to stock Toyota wheels, the TSS sport are 8” width and 18mm offset.

Bottom line is that there are lots of choices within the Toyota or even Lexus 6 lug wheel options. I just sold my Lexus GX470, and there are plenty of those wheels for sale as well.

As someone mentioned, these looked to be 15x7 wheels from the spec from pic

Yeah that’s a 15” 1st gen wheel. Had them on my 2000 taco. Don’t know of any coming in a 16” like that.

    Those won’t fit a 2nd gen.

16" rims like that have 15 offset and they don't fit just like OP wrote. Some time ago I wanted to buy a set for about $85, but when I mounted one to the front the wheel was not spinning.
Maybe someone tried to mount them with 5-6 mm (3/16" - 1/4") spacers?

Wonder if the OP is going to check back in? I'm guessing he ended up with a set of OEM 15" wheels as well.

Remember that all wheels are different. Just because they are Toyota rims, doesn't mean they will fit your specific application. You should ensure you get the correct bolt pattern and offset before purchasing.

Moral of the story -- always verify size by checking the sidewall of the tires you are buying!

And even correct pattern and offset is not all you need. That rims have right bolt pattern and offset +15 instead of factory +30. But they don't fit with calipers.

By the way, did anyone try to fit rims like this to Tacoma (they are from Hilux Surf = 4Runner 185)?

These wheels come in 15x7+15mm and 16x7+15mm

In my experience in Canada, the 16's are much more common than the 15's. That said, I don't believe either will fit the 2005+ Tacoma without hitting the brake caliper.
