@Gritto , I have no doubt you breathed a sight of relief in July 1973. I had to search to see when the draft ended. I knew is was around that time but wasn't sure. I've known quite a few Vets over the years, and they all told me the same thing, be dam glad that you missed out that Hell Hole called Vietnam. Most of them wouldn't talk very much about, and most I'm sure will carry emotional and mental scars forever. Some of the Vets I worked with on one job, took me six months just to get him and his buddy (they worked together), to even speak to me. My boss told me that both of them had seen some seriously nasty combat duty, and they were pretty much left alone to themselves.

you wouldn't want to trade for mine. I still need to mow it a couple times a week but it looks like shit. It wont fill in with green grass. lots of dead yellow grass all throughout. Not sure what I need to do to get it to green up better.

Funny thing, I applied for tax relief on my house here in N.C. because I'm also disabled, so far I haven't seen a $1.00 difference on my house payment, since everything is rolled into it.

what a Ham!!! funny how some dogs are just eager beavers to get the picture taken, and others like my brothers dog tries to hide when you point anything at her.

    You live in St Augustine?
My favorite place in Florida.

For a short time I lived in Green Cove Springs (Lynyrd Skynyrd, yeah!)
I used to fish off the jetty at Vilano Beach north of the inlet.
    The tourists didn't go there.

I love dormant grass in the summer, but I do miss having a yard large enough for a riding mower.

I'm thinking about reducing the miles I walk right now. at 7:00 am it's already 75 degrees with 86% humidity. Today we only walked about 2.7 miles instead of the regular 3 miles, and I'm thinking about going down to about 2 miles. This dam humidity is kicking my ass. I can barely peel my sleeveless T shirt off by the time I get back. I can't imagine anyone working outside in this shit, and I used to do roofing in South Louisiana back around 1983-84. We'd hit to rooftop around 6:00 am and work until about 11:00 and call it a day. Sometimes we'd go back and work in the evening until it got dark. The poor bastards redoing blacktop roads have my sympathy. I'll see ya'll later on, have to get a few things done before it gets to freakin hot.

    Oh well...:notsure:

45 minutes...means you're not in that mess down at Boca Raton, etc.
You live in the real Florida?

I consider it the real Florida anymore. I don’t go south of Ft Meyer’s EVER. I’m way northeast and all my friends live down the central northern half. Still old school southerners! Mostly...

Water it to make it grow? No way man. I got better things not to do. :D

This year has been weird and I mowed about four times already. Last year, I got away with mowing it just twice. Best summer ever. Spent as much as I could on the water paddling around.

    FTW:

Google still shows mine before the garage parking pad and grass got put in. It was the only one left on the block with no grass a few years ago. figured I should do it.
