I think what I like about the cross mode ability is that when it comes to choosing my base station, I won't have to stick with the same type as my HT DMR...maybe choose something like D-Star.

This was being advertised on QRZ.com. https://www.buddipole.com/powermini.html I like it but I don't like the price. The charge controller in my box is a little noisy on RF but not unusable. Anyone know of a charge controller a little cheaper that's RF quiet?

It's just a small thing. But I'm excited to see if it improves my day to day radio activities.

Not yet, it was just an idea. Im still not a fan of switching Supplies. I still have a shelf of solid state power supplies. Old 25 amp Tripplight for V/Uhf, Astron 35 amp HF radio, antenna tuner... ect and a Astron 70 amp i found for $150. Could NOT pass on the big one, too good of a deal.

We have an Astron 35 variable power supply at work but living off-grid makes me conscious of efficiency. Plus, it's a piece of equipment for work (that they have never used and never will) so I probably shouldn't make it a permanent installation in my home.

Ordered a spiderbeam mast today. Excited to get that.

Make a Winlink connection yesterday for the first time. Any subsequent connection ended abruptly. Sometimes it seemed like the server would reply too quickly to my messages and the radio wouldn't have enough time to switch over the RX. I'll try again tonight maybe.

    You might like this.

So this is what I was waiting for in the mail. Just something to help keep organize on the go. Which is 75% of my radio work these days.

Oooh... I'll be interested to see how you set that up fully.

I'm still procrastinating putting the radio in an ammo can but I at least haul it around that way. Two ammo cans and I have a full portable kit including hours of battery life.

I was contemplating trying to stuff the raspberry pi and soundcard in there, but I might just toss that in my bag that has the roll up antenna and coax In it. Those are easy to plug in and aren't always used.

I think the interesting one I saw elsewhere on the internet is how someone put a couple of small batteries in the bigger on with a controller for accessories and solar. That was pretty slick. One backpack and two handles for a fully supported station.
