Was running outta space in my bed to hold my traction boards securely, so I tossed them on the roof. Fabbed up some brackets out of angle aluminum, gonna be an hour job tops.

    First...bolt... :frusty:

Little ingenuity and about 8x longer than planned later:

So I knew the front tires rubbed my wheel liners in the front at full turn and stuffed up a little. Nothing too bad though, usually not flexing that much.

But I figured out what that real bad rubbing noise was last weekend when I walked past my truck today. There used to be plastic there. It literally melted away...

Also, traction board update. Holy hell are those things loud up there on the freeway. Thankfully they are only gonna be up there for trips.

That happened to me with the crossbar that holds my lightbar. I still haven’t fixed it

265/75/16. The ST Maxx I have run .5" bigger than standard for that size. I think it has more to do with my alignment being goofed up on that side due to offroad shenanigans and seized cam bolts.

Yep. He's running APRS which can give you beaconing and weather data and can also send text and email over radio

It's going to get worse too on my dash. Appleplay now can push the Gaia app right to the screen and Android auto is expecting full support by fall.

If they integrate aprs as well, I'm going to be ecstatic

I have a very similar setup in my truck, so it may as well be.

**this was during install and I was not driving**

Edit: This was my old Yaesu 7900, I'm on an 8900 now. Since it doesn't do external data, I have a Baofeng with an audio cord connected to my tablet. APRSDroid and Gaia run on that. It goes to a separate antenna. That way I can dual monitor comms, and have a dedicated APRS feed.

That's the working beer that gets the job done in the hot garage. Gotta save the fancy stuff for later.

Exactly! People act like there isn't a place for both. Yeah, I stand in line on can release days and trade whales across the country, I also like to pound chillyboi's while I'm cutting the grass.

@m603holden How did you get the APRSDroid map to load, does you tablet have a cell card or are you hotspotting based on the wifi emblem on the header bar?
