Yes, as @backcountryj said it’s a Trek Full Stache 8 29+. I had a hardtail Stache 9.7 before this. Yes I like it, but there are things that could make it better. I actually liked my hardtail better to be honest. It’s a blast on descents, as I've mentioned in multiple posts. It’s good on techy climbs, but it’s pretty loose out back which makes it feel like you are pedaling through quicksand. All in all, I’d buy it again.

Question for all the bike, truck, and brake nerds.

Recently redid the brakes on my truck, and a lot of my research was saying that drilled rotors don't actually provide any real performance benefit, and can actually cause premature warping or cracking.

but pretty much all bike rotors are drilled, and pretty significantly, i.e. they have a lot of holes. almost more hole than contact area.

is there a reason bike rotors are drilled and vehicle rotors aren't (or at least a lot of people recommend they shouldn't be)? I would guess maybe because mountain bike rotors are more subject to dirt and mud, but who actually knows?

I'd honestly guess it is more of a weight savings thing with the benefit of heat dissipation. Bike people tend to care about grams where truck people are actively adding 750 extra pounds on... :anonymous:

    Bike racks...

So the lady friend sold her Hyundai Elantra GT with a 1-1/4" hitch and replaced it with a new Rav4. We always toted around bikes in the Hyundai since it's way more efficient that the 4Runner. Now the Rav4 will be the bike mobile and it'll be getting a 2" hitch.

We had a Kuat Sherpa on the Hyundai and had no real problems with it, but I wouldn't mind getting something a little more beefy that. 1UP racks. I know everyone loves them. But which one in particular. I can't think of a time where we'll be carrying more than 2 bikes so expansion isn't necessary but it wouldn't be the worst option to have in the future. No fat tire bikes, either road, gravel, or mountain bikes.

I'm assuming we'll do the super duty since it's only $30 more than the heavy duty. Any objections to this? Things to be aware of?

One thing to be aware of is that they are extremely slow due to demand. I ordered my rack on the 17th and haven't even gotten a shipping confirmation yet.

According to their website, they're on backorder until August 26th.
I don't mind waiting for the right product.

You answered your own question here.

If you order additional locks at the same time you order the rack they’ll key them all the same. At least they did with mine.

Oh and maybe buy more locks than you think you’d need. Wish I’d bought more than just two wheel locks :frusty:

If you replace your stem bolts with titanium to save 20 grams but have a 8oz/200gram cup of coffee before your ride, you can go f*ck yourself.

For anyone with a North Shore Rack, how far do the bikes extend up past the cab? Trying to figure out the total height added and whether itll fit in my parking garage. My Thule T2 is junk and dropped a bike...

With my shuttle rack they def dont fit under a 7 foot garage opening and 8ft would be very tight if they fit at all.

I don't know about you, but I weigh 205 lbs. I vary about 5 lbs throughout the day depending on how big of a dump I take in the morning. Saving a few grams on the bike will make literally zero difference for me.

My point exactly. I'm 205 as well and I can become 203 or 210 in a hurry depending on breakfast options.
