Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I wouldn't hesitate to spend a loonie and some toonies on it...even throw in a Tim Hortons or three.

Round 2 of the great workshop AC experiment. Got a hold of a 12000BTU industrial unit, Movincool officepro 12. I'm planning on testing tonight and running it all day Friday. I hope it works. It's hot in there!AC.jpg

Well Sadly it did the exact same thing as the residential portable unit I tried. Although this one cycles a lot more air. Both units create negative pressure which draws air in from the cracks in the garage door and what not, and only pull the garage down by 2 degrees or so then stop cooling. So I am on to round 3, covert this SOB to a dual hose and see if I can solve that issue. I fabbed up an intake port last night so I could draw air across the condenser coil from outside, hopefully doing away with the negative pressure.

Anyone have a DeWalt 734 planer? Mine is about two years old and it’s really giving me a headache. I can’t plane anything for more than 20 minutes and it starts shutting down or overheating. I put new blades in it about a week ago.

Probably a different issue, but my 735 started sparking bad after one or two boards through it last year. Took it into the Dewalt service center, they didn’t even look at it. Just took it in the back, gave me a receipt, and told me a new one would be at my door in 5-7 days. I forget their warranty period off the top of my head, but it was painless...assuming they have a three year on the planers.

Have you check the brushes? Assuming the motor has brushes.

I took the brushes out and they were so hot, I couldn’t hold them. Do I need to replace them? I can’t tell if they are worn or would they even show it?
I ran some red and white oak thru it, it shut down after about ten minutes. Nothing using power in my shop except the planer, dust collector, box fan and lights.
