Paint flaking off my 2017 Tacoma

I have 2016 super white Tacoma and it’s flaking I the same exact area. It is also peeling on the driver side front fender lip under the hood. I spoke Toyota and they said they will not cover the flaking yet but I know the RAV4 with super white has the same issue of flaking which they are covering repairs

 

My truck is from Mexico vecdran and the clear coat looks like garbage! I had my paint repaired on my window it cost me $100 as Toyota offered no assistance. Not too bad but I feel like it will continue to fail in other places.

 

damn, as the owner of a new white truck, this is not looking good. which i knew before i got into this one.

 

After 4 months because of the Stay-at-Home order, I washed my truck today and found the paint peeling off the rear passenger window. So just passed my 3 year warranty in April.

 

Hope my 2019 doesnt doesnt start flaking in a year or two. Ironically I had to settle for white cause it was all that was available. I wanted red or blue......

 

I smell a big lawsuit coming.
Crazy that this has so many times in the same spot (by the window) and same color (white)

 

2017 38000 miles paint peeling. My neighbor will help with class action hit me up and I'll add you to the class. We will get our trucks replaced since this is a known problem and now no one will buy your truck in the future. CARFAX will probably show our trucks being in a body shop. This has reduced values overnight.

 

I have a 2019 super white. After looking at this thread I’m am going to keep an eye out for future paint issues.

 

You will never get the trucks "replaced" but Toyota should pay for repaint. Back in the late 80's or early 90s GM had horrible paint that came off in big chunks. They ended up repainting my Dad's truck and it honestly looked better after repaint than it did new off the showroom floor.

 

I'm still going through the same thing with mine. Starting to see bubbling/peeling on the edges of front quarter panel under the hood. Talking to the service manager again tomorrow, if they cannot fix it I may do it myself.

 

2019 Barcelona Red here, paint chipping at rear passenger window, same spot as OP...

 

I'm starting a class action against Toyota and if you want to be added to the class please message me your contact information. I'll have my attorney add you to the class or contact you directly. This is simply a $ value issue who would buy a used truck if they know the paint could peel and have future issues.(you have to disclose this to private party or you could be sued) I wouldn't and mine started 3 months after I purchased off my lease. I wouldn't of bought my truck if I would have known or if it peeled prior to the lease end. We need to fight to make Toyota responsible for current and future lost value. Cheers!

I've been seeing people post this more for 2017 models. Not sure if its more so with that year, or if there hasn't been enough time for it to happen to the 2018+. I'm dreading walking out one day and seeing it's happened to my 2018 pro.

 

Class action Why not I’m in , will need quite a few plaintiffs, 50-100+ though so gotta spread the word.

 

You guys can add me to that class action lawsuit. Dealer and manufacture is giving me the run around but I’m keeping all my records showing I’m having my truck inspected every time for the same issue just different locations. I now have three different spots flaking off on my 2017 trd sport, both rear doors and drivers side fender next to hood. Would of never known the fender was peeling until I opened the hood. Funny how manufacture said I’m the first they have heard of this issue LMAO there nose looking like Pinocchio by now.

 

You will want to cut back the peeling part and touch it up with a paint pen otherwise it'll run away on you.

 

Also whomever files a lawsuit for class action will need a copy of the White Paint letter that Toyota has been mailing out.

 

I actually contacted a lemon law firm about my issue. They Advised me to keep taking it in every time a new spot appears and get copies of report. Sounds like if I take it in 3 times for the same issue they will take my case. I’m going in for the 2nd time soon. I’ll just have to wait for the 3rd I’ll keep u guys updated but I recommend u guys contact a lemon law firm near u.
