bump stop question

2019 tacoma 2.7L SR 4 door.
if i raise my front end 2" inches higher, how much do i have to extend both (front end) bump stops? so shocks dont bottom out....???

 

How are you lifting front?

 

If you're using lift springs or Bilstein 5100s, you don't have to touch the bump stops.

If you're lifting with top hat spacers, the bumpstop should be extended by roughly the same thickness as the spacer. e.g. to get a 2" lift, typically the spacer would be about 1.2" thick, so the bumpstop should be extended by 1.2" as well.

ok...so if i use new strut assembly, fox, bilstein, etc...i dont have to extend bump stop! but if i use strut spacers on top i do? is it becuase new strut assemblies are designed to go lower and not bottom out? were adding a spacer would push original shocks past there stop point? is that why?
