Replaced the Toyota breather today with Uni Filter P/N UP-102, using an Eldon James C6-5BN nylon coupler, for 2-way venting.

Some say it is. The Toyota breather is one-way, letting excess pressure out but not in. When the diff cools, it draws a vacuum - I notice this when I crack the fill plug to change diff oil. Presumably the vacuum can draw in water through the axle seals when off-road... or fording GTA underpasses after a storm.

I have always wondered about condensation in the tube. We have added more space for air to travel and the difference in temp from hot oil to cold water crossing mihgt do that.

Condensation isn't going to cause enough water to form in the axle to affect anything. Once the diff oil heats up again, the water will evaporate away. Remember most of the losses from flywheel hp to rwhp occur in the rear diff, some 11%. If you're hauling ass, 26hp or 19400W of heat is being dumped into the diff oil.

@Tridet167 have you done the smog pump filter relocate yet? That's probably the most popular application for the Uni Filter on '12-'15 2nd gens, though I believe a different size than what I used.

What is the point of putting a filter on the smog pump? I’ve seen those a lot.

It replaces the pretend filter Toyota puts in there, a peice of foam. That eventually dries out, crumbles, gets sucked in and can cause damage.

Lots of guys just replace it before its an issue.

Here’s a little sneak peak of the 35/12.5r17 falken wildpeak m/t that I’m getting installed. Just picked 2 of the tires up for test fitting but let me tell you lots and lots of trimming had to be done and banging on the fire wall but they fit now with a small amount of rub at full stuff and fully turned but manageable. Getting a 1” body lift and 886 coils to replace the sagging 888coils And hopefully that eliminates all rubbing. 5.29 revolution gears getting installed as well. Mine and yours both have the pump I think. It’s part of the system from that Valve that I had to change.
