I did. The "Master Mechanic" came out and listened to it, and said he would get back to me. That was 11 AM Tuesday, and so far I haven't heard a peep out of them.

well, i have a similar whine on my '05 with 182k (2.7L). after i took a listen under the hood, it sounds like it is coming from near the back of the engine compartment just barely towards the driver's side of center. close proximity to the throttle body. there are two rubber hoses with an outside diameter between approx .75" - 1". both originate in the vertical orientation (up), then 90 degree towards the rear, then another 90 degree straight down to where i can not see. on my truck, its the hose on the left that is making the noise. with truck running, i can jiggle hose and the whine either stops or get louder. it almost sounds like a vacuum leak, however the truck idle is still perfect. it's dark outside right now or else i would take a pic and post what i'm talking about. good luck....

    Hi

Was there a resolution to the noise? Mines does it when in drive, when in neutral or park the sound goes away. 136k miles. Drives fine otherwise.

on my 2.7 the noise was caused by the vvti gear on the intake camshaft. it was a literal scream but changing that gear cured it
