I dont see $1775 being a "ton of money" as you say, especially when you consider all the extras.

SR5 or OR if you can spare the $1800. You'll get it back on resale/trade and the extra functionality and slightly better features make it worth it. FYI, it rides softer than the SR5.

That is $1775 +tax on that. Plus if live in a state that charges tax or yearly motor vehicle registration Based on what your car/truck lists at ... it all adds up. Also, there maybe a bit more wiggle room with the dealer on an SR(5)

    Just saying ...

If you NEED 4x4 get the SR5 and a 4x4 and add wheels. If not, I would get a V6 for sure. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my 4 banger 1st gen, but it’s nice to have the power when needed. Off-road sounds lie way more than you need.

I'm going SR5 too. My truck should be in this week.
A few things he forgot you get with the SR5 is keyless entry, cruise control, intermittent wipers, color keyed front bumper and fender flares, driver lumbar support, leather wrapped wheel and shifter. You also get an 8" screen radio over the 7" in the SR. The rear window is sliding but you get a power one with the v6 also tow package is standard with the v6 SR5 not sure about the SR

I think if you aren't going all way to TRD OR and you are going to daily drive it not having intermittent wipers, cruise control, keyless entry and fog lights are real deal breakers for me.

You mentioned the trail edition and that is based off the SR5 with some parts for aprarance from the Limited (grille) and Off road (black out OR wheels)
My personal opinion of that trim is that the cargo boxes are dumb and take up too much space for the utility they provide. I like the black wheels. I'd have to see price to say if I'd buy it just to toss out the boxes.
I'd say that SR5 is the way to go or Off road if it's in your budget.

why does everyone always talk resale on a perfectly good, reliable truck?? If you plan on selling it, but a Chevy or Ford. Reliability?? Buy Toyota. Pick one. I don’t get posts like this.....but I am old. Maybe it’s just me?

No it's not that you are old. Well maybe I'm old too if 46 is old. I agree with you I don't see a huge difference in resale on a used TRD over an SR5. Infact I think they hold value equelly well. The TRD is always worth a little more but then it cost almost 2k more new. I see the SR5 on lots used still bring a good high price compared to the competitive models of other manufacturers. I don't see how a TRD is that much better in overall resale. I personally don't plan to resell mine for at least 10 years. Resale value also can help you if someone wrecks in to you and totals it. You will get more than you would with a Ford or Chevy to roll into the replacement.

What's up fellas I am new here lurking really wanting a Taco (as you guys call it) badly the more I do my research here gathering info on what upgrades I want to do. I'm in a delima of deciding which model but I ultimately know I want a 4x4.
So it's either a 19 taco crew cab SR5 with 30k miles or a 2017 TRD OR crew cab with 34k miles or new 2020 rwd TRD Sport crew cab.
The TRD OR suspension doesn't make a difference since I am planning on changing suspension to the Bilstein 6112/5160 with a 1.5" Icon Leaf pack.
So is there anything else I would be missing is I got the SR5 besides the little knick knacks and cool TRD logo, and flares?
SR5 is black short bed and I found rear painted bumper trims I want to get to rid of the chrome.
The OR is quicksand with long bed. The 2020 RWD is white.
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

diff is bigger in the off-road, and you will have a locker, but if you just need 4wd?? You will be fine. I’m just planning on a locker in my 2wd sport

The trail is out I thought those boxes were removable but I guess they are not which is a huge design flaw and will cost Toyota a lot of sales on that trim I would think.

They said in one of the auto show videos they were bolted in but could be removed, just not super quickly. Search it on you tube. I personally think they're silly especially the cooler side. It really does not look like it can hold much. I'd rather have a Yeti cooler than that. Also it's a limited edition they are only making 7000 or so.

My 2009 TRD 4x4 Sport sold really well when I used it to buy a Lexus. Lexus held up well when I got my 2020 TRD 4x4 Sport.

Also to the post above for the SR5 at 36k, I paid 38k for my 2020 TRD Sport 4x4. A few k more got me everything I wanted, and then some. And since I rarely go off road, the 4x4 part is for when/if I need it. Like going up to snowy mountains, the beach, camping, etc. Its there when I need it -- and great for rainy weather.

I put in a vote for an SR5. Has everything you need. Price difference near me between SR5 and OR was more than $1800 as well.

MTS and Locking Diff are two things I do not need. Near Pittsburgh PA there is no where to offroad, so it was pointless. Plus the truck was everything I wanted. Cement. 4x4. V6. And its easy to build up if I want.

Took my saved money and threw some Duratracs on and a tailgate pad for bikes.

Congratz on trying to quit chew btw.

    Welcome to TW!
Congrats on quitting chewing! I've chewed for 30 years and haven't had the courage to try to quit, good on you!
As far as trucks...it's pretty much all about bells and whistles; in my opinion, if it says Toyota...its's a good one.
    Great avatar pic!

My father used to always say ... the more options you get, means more that can go wrong (break).

So my suggestion is buy what you need. No need to buy something for the “bling” factor if options/packages ultimately will be of no or little use to you.
