Im considering ordering a cap for my 2020 tacoma and it already has a tonneau cover installed. I don't know exactly which model the cover is, but it folds over itself into thirds. It came like this from the dealer.
The cap company uses the factory rails in the bed for install, as do most caps...but since I have the tonneau I was wondering if the rails have been relocated? Or lowered?
I've attached some images of my bed and the rails for any comparison. I can't seem to figure this one out on my own.

The rails are in the factory spots. But, I'd check if you need the front header rail.

You have the OEM bed cover. With the exception of the caps on top of each bed side, everything is the same as a truck without the cover.

If you plan to sell you bed cover, people who buy it will want your covers and all mounting hardware. I suggest finding a buyer before you put your cap on as those parts dont come off when the cap is installed.
Most people who would buy your OEM cover will trade you the non bed cover parts for your bed cover parts.

You mean trade my bedside covers or sell them before mounting the cap? Im not clear on what parts won't come off when the cap is installed.
Your post was super helpful though, thanks for the response!

Thank you for the advice! I will check into this!

So if you go to sell your tonnaeu cover, the person buying it will want all the parts. So you will need to remove the covers they remove in this video at 1:10. Basically everything in this video.

But you will want to swap the covers at 1:10 with someone who buys your tonnaeu cover so you have the correct parts on your truck and maximize the resale value of your OEM tonnaeu cover.

Perfect, thank you for the clarification and video link. I really appreciate that.
If I don't sell the cover because no one wants it or something, will I need to change the bed covers still?

Nope, you can use the covers you have right now just fine with a cap. I just tell people that so they can maximize their profits from selling the OEM cover.

When I sold my cover, I swapped bail rail caps with the buyer as they are cut out to fit the tonneau. Very easy to pop them off. Then you have full caps on yours under your new shell and the buyer has precut caps for their 'new' tonneau.
Don't forget to remove, and give to buyer, the support in the middle of the front. Held on by 2 screws.
