Well done! Is your new truck a 4x4? Cab size? Those play a factor in price also.

That is insane for fees. Id ask for an itemized list of all the fees and start knocking each off saying you wont pay that.

Dealer stock is extremely low right now (out in CO) at least. I wanted a SR5 in quicksand and had to order it from the factory. Seems like Black/Silver are going to be the only things left on the lots, if any.

Yeah it does feel good. Especially after the camping trip this weekend with the Jeep. Sunday evening I got in a minor accident. Kid with no license turned left in to me at a stop sign. His fault but so glad it wasn't my new truck. Nothing like a little drama lol.

My kid is looking at 4 cylinder sr5 double cabs now. Test drove this past Sunday. Salesman insisted on talking about monthly payments. MSRP is a joke. They have factory MSRP plus stupid additonal items. Asked me "What would it take to get you into this truck today???". Told him something far below MSRP to start. This monkey comes back with a $200 reduction in price like he's some kind of champ. 33k OTD for a 4 cylinder essentially stripped truck???? I can get a stripped down Tundra double cab for $36k OTD. I laughed and told him if I was stupid enough to pay that I might as well pay MSRP. The midget sales manager came by shortly thereafter with an equally stupid offer. Toyota has the absolute WORST sales experience. I've bought three of them and each experience was miserable. Almost bought a Sienna for my wife 22 years ago. Dealer di@ked me around for 8 hours. Finally told them "F#@k you, I'm buying a Grand Caravan" and walked out. Four Hondas, an Acura and a Dodge were easy. I know they're low on inventory, but this is ridiculous. Kid is driving my '87 pickup now back and forth to work. No commute to school due to CV19. We'll wait. Wish there were other options.

That depends. Prices at one point were lower. But, do you need the truck now? Can you afford the additional $5k to have the truck now? If you can afford it, there is a lot to be said about having and enjoying the truck that you want instead of having analysis paralysis online all day.

Unfortunately demand is up and you have a generation of truck buyers that are pretty irresponsible with the available easy financing, which is largely driving the price increases on these trucks. It also doesn't help that the Tacoma's basically sell themselves making for sales/managerial staff that don't really have to earn for your money.

Welp. Looks like I'm a 1st time Tacoma owner. Didn't plan on buying today but felt the deal was good enough so I took her home. Details were posted a page or so back. I'll post some final numbers a little later. This is the first Taco I've seen in my immediate area that met 90% of what I was looking for. It was also priced lower than all the similar ones I was close to buying out of state.

Get it. But MSRP is MSRP. They're also gouging on colors. $2500 premium on cement grey with a "market markup"? $10k markup on pro??? We'll wait it out. And if it takes too long we'll see about other makes. Love my Tacoma. But if I can get something comparable for $6-7k less it might be a better option. I'm not buying the truck. My kid will be making the payments. $5k is a lot of coin when you're making $14/hour.

I hope my response wasn't confusing, but I was agreeing to your point. MSRP pricing already has profit built into the price for dealers. I don't like the current pricing either, but that's what our free market system allows. And the great thing about the system is, they can charge whatever they want, and I can chose to never buy from greedy dealerships that insist on a markup on a MASS produced truck. I think these sales are forgetting the fact that they are risking their dealership reputation to gouge mark up profit on the number one selling and produced mid-sized truck, not a limited edition Lamborghini.

If the market agrees with several grand being added to the msrp as a premium and it sells then there is no dealership incentive to lower from that but if the consumer just says hell noooo then they will change there ways. I look at like this when you drive it off the lot you have already lost value and now you tack on another 5k to msrp means you will be upside down longer so if you buy it you better carry gap coverage so you don't get burned in case of you having it totaled
