I have always had Labs, still do. My 11 yr old won't have anything to do with her while our 3 yr old golden wants to play and she chases him all over the house. My Lab is so pissed off at my wife for this, he won't even take a cookie from her right now. We got our 3 yr old a year after losing my other Lab - Phoenix (current Lab) was so saddened and depressed we go the golden for a partner it took him two months before he accepted the puppy back then -

These are our two knuckleheads. Both females. Duffy is the black Lab - 10 years old - and Sunny is the Yellow. She's 5. We love Labs and Goldens but have always ended up with Labs.

Thank you for raising the pups. My avatar pup was a Southeastern Guide Dog Puppy - who had cataracts and was washed out of the program. 1st pup did become a guide dog. Group was only a few, and then they all went their separate ways, so no more pups.

Stop abusing those pups, Mark

    What a cutie!!

I have most of my grill stuff mounted on the wall now. I need to get some small head stainless steel screws to mount a set of GrillGrates I use with my kettle grills. It is still 95 degrees out so a trip to Lowes or HD can wait till tomorrow morning.

I don't personally own a pup, but I have 3 Grand pups. Son and DIL have Angus (who we have living with us since the middle of May after his surgery) and Arya who was a rescue pup that my son got. My daughter and SIL have a rescue shepherd. All three are great dogs.
    20140705_212911.jpg
Angus as a pup after a long day at Knobles Amusement park. he didn't bat an eye when i picked up his paw to put the can there.
    Angus and biscuits.jpg
Grand daughter taught Angus to be patient. Also I lost the bet that he wouldn't do it....
Angus and Arya.jpg Arya and Angus. It took Angus a couple of months to get used to Arya but now they are buds.
Ginger.jpg And this is Ginger my Daughters pup. She spent the night and chased the missus out of the bed because she was feeling crowded.

Welcome to the porch Casey. Like @Devious6 said, pull up a seat(just not @Tacoma Mike 's recliner) and grab a cold one.

Sprig with his best friend Copper his cat. They are inseparable. I’ve had labs for 30 plus years, all have been hunting dogs, waterfowl and pheasant. Even though they are “tough” hunting dogs I totally spoil them. They rule the house, sleep on the bed and most anything else they want. Sprig is a highly trained hunting dog. He’s whistle signal and hand signal trained, I can send him on 100 yard blind retrieves with whistle and hand signals. He’s amazing. Very affectionate too. (And he puts up with Copper who doesn’t leave him alone)157CFC12-9AE5-4605-A3B9-2F13F3706137.jpg

We found Copper as a stray little kitten in a piece of copper pipe (thus his name) in a corporate construction yard. One of the workers brought him to my wife’s office. She brought him home to foster care him for the weekend. As soon as I saw the little guy I told her we aren’t fostering we are adopting. Your kitty and Copper certainly do look like they are of the same heritage

Good morning all!! Got out and played a round of golf with a friend yesterday. Today I'll do some small projects around the farm this morning and hit the pool in the afternoon. This retired life is tough!!!

    Stay safe!!

Is there room in here for one more 60+ old man from Missouri? I’ll be retiring October 1 from working at a power plant, but I will keep on farming until I die. :)

Welcome to the "cool kids" group! Always room on the porch for new members - but you have to fill the cooler. That's a tradition here. :D

There is a great group of folks here - happy to have you join us. I just retired (for the second time) 3 weeks ago so I'm still sorting though the whole thing. So far, so good, though!!

I can’t wait to get started! I’ve worked shift work for the last 36 years, mostly 12 hour shifts. Can’t wait to go to sleep in my bed when it’s dark every night. Also looking forward to having holidays off, I’ve only had Christmas off 6 times in 36 years.
The company I work for wants to downsize the employees so they offered us old farts a severance package to leave. It was to good to pass up.

Sounds like you are ready to make the jump. We now only have two days a week - Weekday and Weekend. The only difference is that we stay away from stores on Weekend. :D I was in the Army for 26 years and moved into higher education after I retired. Spent 16 years at a small college, the last 8 as president. I woke up about 2 AM a few nights ago in a panic that the new semester was starting soon but I hadn't done anything to prepare...and then I realized I was retired. I've always known I am a stress junky - love to work under pressure - so I think that will be my greatest adjustment. On the good side, I am enjoying afternoons by our pool.

Yes, it’s going to be an adjustment for sure. It will be great not having to adjust what I get done on the farm, by when I have to go back to work.

Exactly. It's great getting to decide when to do things around our place instead of having to pack it in on Saturday or Sunday. Life is good!!
