The way I look at it: if you alter a design that was adopted by an organization, then you like/agree/associate with that organization on some level.

So while skulls on stuff doesn't equal the Totenkopf, altering the warbird hits a little too close for comfort.

It's not about cancel culture, it's about the perception of being associated with something as evil and abhorrent as the Nazis.

That would be a long fifteen hour ride.

There is nothing quite like riding a slow bike fast.

One of my neighbors has a 390 that sees only the road between his house and job. He rides it like a scooter on a leisurely romp around the neighborhood.

Ordered me a Saddlemen Step up. :anonymous::spending:

Was looking hard at the Whiplash Speed Co seats. Similar in look to the Saddlemen. But couldn't do it. They're $40 more for the seat and shipping was $51!! Trying to support a veteran owned and smaller business....but damn. :ballchain:

    I would certainly consider it!

Riding down and back up would be too much for me, so I would like to get one of those hitch-mount motorcycle carriers for the Taco.
The Ninja is only about 340 lbs. so I guess that would be ok. :notsure:

True, but I have a camper shell over the bed and the bike wouldn’t fit in there... plus, I actually camp out of the bed on long trips.

My recommendation goes to a versahaul carrier. See if you can find a used one because they are expensive

Skyline Drive is cool but keep in mind it's fairly heavily policed and a 35 mph speed limit without many passing zones. Better suited for leaf peeping in the fall or for a leisurely cruise.

Blue Ridge Parkway is awesome. Great scenery, some nice technical sections, great photo ops, and easy to hop on and off to get into a town for fuel or food when you want or need a break.

I've ridden the Dragon several times dating back to 2003 on my Buell and as recently as 2018 on the FJR. I think everyone should ride it at least once in their life. That being said you don't want to ride it on a weekend unless you're on it real early in the morning as it's gotten to be WAY too popular and well known. Too many cruiser type bikes with poorly skilled riders who won't pull over for faster traffic. Too much police presence. I think in that same area there are lots of other roads just as much fun but not as publicized where you can go have fun without dealing with the crowds. If you insist on visiting the Dragon go on a weekday, preferably mid week but I'd still try to get there early.

Consider VA16 the Back of the Dragon from Tazwell to Marion, VA. I think it's just as fun or maybe even more so and not as well known yet so less traffic to deal with. Longer ride as well, closer to 30 miles than just 11. Rt.421 into TN, I think they call it the Snake is another great ride. It's easy to get tied up in the hype of Tail of the Dragon but that entire area has a lot of great riding. I'm pretty active on a couple of FJR1300 forums and we usually hold an Eastern Owner's Meet in those areas in late September so I'm reasonably familiar with them.

Nice! I miss riding the NJ trails/pits... except when we were being chased by the game warden :anonymous:

Years ago when I had my rm250 we ran from the police. And the cop was chasing us threw an open field he may have or may not have crashed his car. :notsure:. I don't know why he would do such a thing. We got away

Yeah it was getting really risky where we rode. Ran into the game warden a couple times and got close to getting caught. I remember he had a black Durango and would be hiding around a bend...you're just ripping down the trails and all of the sudden - fuck there he is waiting for you!

The owners of the sand pits weren't happy with us either, they started burying spikes in the trails leading onto their property. Got me good one day - punctured three of the tires on my quad
