One more thing. Getting the Tactrix cable will it 100% solve connection and communication issues? I do not mind paying $150 for the cable since I repair friends and families vehicles on the side. Just want something that will work for a long time without issues.

A large majority of OVTune customers have been using it to tweak their trucks and look at live data with zero issues. I can't give you any guarantee, but your odds are an order of magnitude better than a cheap knockoff cable. I personally have used it to log and look at live data many times as well as flash TSBs.

The Tactrix is a beast. One evening, I flashed 26 tunes in rapid succession. Not a single hiccup.

Every OVT kit ships with a version of that adapter. Thousands of folks here and only a couple noted problems that were able to be corrected. That's like 99.99% reliability or better?

Think I'll jump on this thread as I finally got a dongle and software that work well.

I'm curious about these ECU flashes and if it'll solve anything with my truck. Or make things better. Off to do some researching...

It's a good part, if you intend to flash.

For general diagnostics, I'm still using a 6yr old ELM327 Bluetooth clone.

Yes! If your on 04B12 (2017 Stock tune), going to 04B13 (TSB tune) was a big deal for me. Recently, another TSB was dropped (04B14). Big time difference over the previous.

See the ECU Update thread in my siggy.

Is there a way to see which tune is on your vehicle through TS?

Yessir. That pic in the thread OP shows it.

Just connect and pick the Engine ECU. It will show the long calibration ID. We shorten them to 04xYY for easy discussion. You're looking for 04B12 (8966304B1200) if it has never been flashed.

Actually, maybe I won't be doing the ECU updates. Looks like someone bricked their ECU using the VXDIAG dongle I have. Ah well..:annoyed:

I think that's a good plan.... It is recoverable, but only if you have a cable that actually works.
