I’ve gotten a bit fat lately. Probably a whole 10% now lol (hovering somewhere in there).

I am active but it takes a pretty obscene amount of activity to eat a lot. I would say IF has made a much bigger difference in my weight management this year than anything else.

I did pussy out and run this morning.

But that frees up my afternoon to do yoga or run a second time.

I will probably do yoga. My BP is 138/118. I think I need something to help me chill.

So, you want to be able to do fat-spot-gaining??

You need to get that kid popped out so you can at least have something close to real problems. :boink:

Ahh, the last tri-mester. You better be ready to accept any and all responsibility and blame for everything.

But have fun. First one is always special, everything is new.

Quick 4 miler this afternoon. Decided I wanted to earn a beer this evening.

    @suaveflooder
This was my first run in my Escalantes.

I ever so slightly heel strike on my right foot. When wearing these shoes its more evident I’m doing that but the body seems to correct itself quickly.

Oh I was bad regarding heel strike. My running is completely different now! Love them still and I’ve put some decent mileage on them.

This week is shit so far. I'm on the road for 6 hours a day and working in a closed room with no access to my meals or anything other than a 30 minute lunch. Been a pain trying to get meals in and getting to the gym and not being dead tired.

Until I looked at my latest pair of Guides that have 700 miles on them I didn't realize I actually do heel strike a bit (if you were to look at my stride you'd swear it was a midfoot strike).

I think I may keep some of my shorter runs in these shoes and see how my body feels. So far I don't feel any different today after that 4 miler yesterday. Some people make it seem like it takes 18 months (not kidding) to ease into zero drop shoes.

Ok. I'm wondering if anyone here can offer an guidance, view points, or references to accomplishing what I want to.

I have wanted to run Hanson's marathon program for years now and just never got around to doing it. It's a higher intensity program that's kind of unconventional (max long run 16 miles). Program is 18 weeks long, first 5 weeks are base building and are pure aerobic volume. Week 6 and on incorporate more intensity running. A typical week looks like this:
    Sun: Long run (10-16 miles)
    Mon: 4-7 miles easy
Tues: 8-11 miles of speed work which is 400-2400m repeats with warm up and cool down
    Weds: Rest
Thurs: 7-12 mile Tempo Run @ goal marathon pace
    Fri: 5-6 miles easy
    Sat: 4-8 miles easy

The past 6 weeks I have been running 30-40 mile weeks. Run all days but Weds and I lift Mon, Weds, and Friday.
Right now I'm trying to do more high intensity lifting trying to gain some strength and mass back, particularly in my legs because that is lacking from surgery. The high intensity lifting has not been difficult because all my cardio is aerobic and easy.

Next week the hard weeks like above start.

I have not gained the mass or strength in my legs that I wished I could so I feel I'm farther behind in my lifting progress than I wanted to be at this point.

I don't like to pair up high intensity run days with lift days or long runs. Given that those are 3 days a week it's really hard to fit in that high intensity lift day without it butting up to those high intensity run days. I am going to lift heavy upper body on Wednesdays, but where do I fit in any lower body heavy work?

The only place where I think I can push the envelope is Friday. Maybe I can run Friday AM and do heavy leg day in the PM.

    So my questions:

    1. I'm making the assumption high intensity work is going to be paramount to me gaining my leg strength and mass back, is this a correct assumption? I also think I'm making the assumption high intensity lifting requires more recovery than high volume, is this really correct?

    2. Am I better off just doing a sheer volume schedule for legs while I'm trying to do all this?

Building mass while simultaneously training for a fast marathon are obviously opposing goals. I'm just trying to see how best to pair these together.
I got the running part down, just don't know what to do with my strength work.

I hate having to choose which sport is my priority.
If I was more into PED use this would be less of a problem.

Marathon runners all have super jacked legs bro, don't know what your problem is. Probably genetics.

You already know the answer to your problem.

    Be Well :)

Building mass isn’t a volume vs intensity issue. It’s a diet issue. Doesn’t matter what work you put in if you’re not giving yourself the proper food it needs to recover and grow
