That's OK. Today, I said "Yes sir" to a kid at Walmart. He said "Thank you for that". Don't ask why I was at Walmart.

    Some really cool shit
    The saga continues.

Picked up my drive line from Southbay this morning. Balance checked out fine. Took it home, and with neighbors help (the third time) installed it. Guess what, still wobbling, and vibrating. On recommendations from Steve, at Southbay, twice, he said take it to my guy Bob, at Bobs Almaden Transmission and Auto Repair. So, limped the truck back down to San Jose. I think this was my fourth time down there. Bobs is not far from Southbay Driveline. Steve said this guy is his go to for suspension and transmission problems. Seems like the perfect fit for my issues. Well, his shop is full of Toyota vehicles. Old and new. A couple are his. He's an off roader, as well. So we get the truck in his shop. He looks around. Thinks maybe the Deavers settled, and changed the geometry. But he's not impressed with the center support/carrier bearing. Advises he prefers solid axle, but admits you lose clearance. He pokes around. Then adjusts the center bracket as far back as it will go versus as far forward as it will go that my neighbor and I put it. That's only about an inch difference, max. Says take it around the block and see how it feels. Problem semi solved. Driving decently now. But he highly recommends I go to a Toyota dealer and buy a stock center support, as he believes the ones Southbay are using are aftermarket crap. He told Steve at Southbay that and he was none too happy about that assessment. Bob thinks the rubber support is too wimpy. I agree. So, I ordered one. Holy smokes, $290! So, end of the week I'll be dropping the driveline for the fifth time, then getting the center support swapped out. I wonder if I take it to Southbay will Steve be pissed if I ask him to swap it out? Should I expect a charge for that? Or just bite the bullet and take it closer to home to avoid the run down to San Jose and back, again! At least progress seems to be happening.

If you live in the south bay area I highly recommend Bobs Almaden Transmission and Auto Repair. Straight shooter. Knowledgeable. Didn't charge me for the opinion, and I was there for 40 minutes, easy. And he put the truck up on the rack. And the receptionist, Candice, is very easy on the eyes.

Yikes! I just had some crappy carrier bearing arrive at my doorstep today.... still sitting on the porch in the box. Hmmm.... think I'm going to return to sender and buy a stock oem spicer. But $290! Damn!

It might be your best bet. My drive line was only a couple months old when that bearing completely failed. Now, had the bracket been better positioned, as it is now, no tellin'. So, this is my second bearing and I'm going to replace it with the OEM. This is not my stock driveline so your situation may be quite different. But, to be honest, my stock drive line handled the Deavers addition for a year before I replaced it after damaging the tube on the Rubicon.

well at least you’re getting somewhere. Sucks that it put you another $290 behind though.

Laugh all you want. I went to Cars & Coffee before the Rona and I'd say there were 8 there. 3 of them still had the DMV window stickers in them.

They are definitely becoming more prevalent. I’ve noticed a lot more on the road now than I ever used to. I think they got smart with making a “more affordable” model and ramping up production... they seem to be selling boatloads of them now.

I think there's a dealer in Palo Alto where the old Volvo place was. They're cool cars but eh. If you cannot see out of them, not really practical.
