2017 paint peeling off

2017 Limited 4x4 , 040 paint made in Baja Mexico, 38000 miles paint peeling off. I'm starting a class action against Toyota and if you want to be added to the class please message me your contact information. I'll have my attorney add you to the class or contact you directly. This is simply a $ value issue who would buy a used truck if they know the paint will peel and have future issues.(you have to disclose this to private party or you could be sued) I wouldn't, and mine started 3 months after I purchased off my lease. I wouldn't of bought my truck if I would have known, or if it peeled prior to the lease end. We need to fight to make Toyota take responsibility for current and future lost value. Try asking your local dealer to give you a trade in value on your truck and see how much you have lost because of this paint issue. Cheers!

 

I had a similar issue with my 2017 (040) super white...Toyota fix it no questions asked at a cost of just under $1800.

 

Know issue with white. Hope it works out well. Keep up posted.

 

Pretty sure this is a problem even on 2nd gen Tacomas. Search this forum for "super white paint flake" or "super white paint peel"

Nope, issue with super white paint, it is a single stage paint, its been an issue even with 2nd gens.

 

I've been seeing people post this more for 2017 models. Not sure if its more so with that year, or if there hasn't been enough time for it to happen to the 2018+. I'm dreading walking out one day and seeing it's happened to my 2018 pro.

 

Known issue with super white paint on all of their models, not just Tacoma’s of either gen. Camry, Corolla, etc all have this issue.

Toyota sent out a letter regarding this for acknowledged models.

 

That sucks. Did you try to get Toyota / your dealer to make it right yet, or are you going straight to the class action lawsuit?

 

I've got a white 17" and my paint isn't peeling but it's doing some weird bubbling along the bottom of the body all the way around. I'll snag some pics when it stops raining.

 

Bubbling other than the textured paint running around the body?

 

My 2018 Barcelona red Tacoma has a spot on the front clip where the paint had chipped ever-so-slightly and when I washed the truck with a pressure washer it peeled the paint right off. I definitely expected more from a 2018 vehicle, especially one with a Toyota badge on it.

 

Just curious of any y’all actually sat down with the the dealer service manager and gm with known cases and asked to get it repaired under goodwill warranty.

 

Guys. Attorney told me to keep taking it in for the same reason when peels and after three visits the lemon law will apply.

 

my 2020 4runner is already having problems lol. I think any hear is susceptible to this issue.

 

You do know there are ways of working things out besides suing right? It's called goodwill, doing the right thing, etc.
Believe it or not there are large parts of this country where a handshake and looking someone in the eye constitutes a deal and making it right is a given. My dealer has treated me right for years. My new dealer 250 miles away is doing the same thing.

 

You would think right. I would bet he hasn’t even attempted to sit down with the GM and service manager to discus known said issue to see if Toyota would cover under good Will warranty “ paint is peeling call the lawyer “.

I lol'd at his class action. Anybody who knows anything knows that Toyota has some problems with Super White (not all... don't know why) and Blazing Blue Pearl. I love white but got Cement because of this.
Also, Toyota has had some problems with this for 15 years or more. I would think they have fought many a battle and apparently won because they are still using it.

 

Having the same issue in the same location among other spots. Toyota is screwing me. Told me to keep my receipts in case they roll out a reimbursement program.
