Steel wheels rubbing calipers... help?

Just got some Pro Comp 97-7983S3.5 Rock Crawler Series 97 17x9 Wheel 6 x 5.5 BP Gloss Black wheels. I've heard mixed reviews and rolled the dice. They rub the face of the caliper, pretty damn bad. What's my best option from here? Grind calipers, grind wheels, slip on spacers, bolt on spacers, I'm screwed go buy new wheels??

 

All depends on how bad the interference is and where it is. If it was extremely light, you'll cause no harm grinding a little material off the caliper.

If it's more significant and touching the round part of the wheel, you're screwed and need a larger diameter wheel.

If it's significant and touching the wheel center, you'll be able to use a wheel spacer to get the clearance you need

 

I have the same problem. I haven’t even attempted to mount them because they hit so hard. What size spacers are recommended?

 

I bought spidertrax 1.25" spacers and I have plenty of clearance now, cant go much shorter without having to cut down your wheel studs

 

Does the fact that they're 16 inch wheels factor in as well? I was told by the ProComp technician (who was pretty rude btw) that you cannot mount 16 inch aftermarket wheels on on 09 Tacoma.

 

The 16s might hit the outside of the caliper, but most steel wheels hit the face of the caliper because how the steel holes are dimpled
