@MyWyfsRnnr , Yeah leave it to Commiefornia to scew up hunting. I know that there are some really beautiful parts of the state, and I've always wanted to see the Redwoods and Sequoia's, but never made it out there. Shouldn't leave that great 99 just sittin in the safe. Make it a point to sit down and think up a good hand load with the "lead" free 150 grain your using in the Tikka. Nothing against the tikka, I hear they make some really nice guns, but the 99's a classic in its own right. Make it happy, take it hunting.

yeah, it is a family heirloom along with some of my others. I just have not had the time to build up a load. With the Non-lead, the typical thought is to speed up the projectile to get consistent expansion, the non-lead is known to not open as much or consistently. I would run a small bullet fast through the 99 so something in the 130gr and below. We have had a few excellent shot placement that have not been the most humane due to the non-lead seeming to not open and passing straight through like a laser. Not like the ol CoreLoks/core explodes haha.

I'm saving one of my best stories for later in August, I'll be curious to see what everyones response to it will be. It involves family, money, and a whole lot of stupidity all rolled into one. Be patient, it will be worth it, I promise.
