The biggest thing to note is to not go crazy with the price. None of these are more powerful Than others in the same category. There's no magic feature that makes it better. A good antenna and an OK radio will be the recipe for success.

Any with a generic port recharging? I’d love to be able to find a decent one with a usb micro or mini or whatever it is my phone uses. Well. Old phone. Generic charging not some proprietary stuff that only plugs into AC power, would like to be able to usb charge. Shockingly the walker talkie market has not been kept up to date in using the same charging methods as android phones.

What software have you folks found good for trail marking/following??
Also what do you use for trail map/locating, ie maps.
I found GPS TRACKS Pro v3.5.3.
It shows my trail well, but it wasn't very user friendly, I was unable to save or upload traces to an website or email.

It’s meant for MTB but Trailforks is pretty good too. Gaia is better if you pay for it.

I love all those programs. As long as you can navigate the right maps they're all dope.

With the right maps you can tell if a trail is there or not without actually being there 90% of the time (totally random number, but most of the time)

    Thank you all.
Just FYI I'am an apple phone and am Windows PC user.

I have the premium Gaia and it seems good, but there is a learning curve (at least for me). I've noticed the MVUM map doesn't differentiate between hiking trails and OHV, at least in MA. I've watched a few youtubez on it and they help on the navigation of the app but i'm still not sure what roads I can/can't drive on. I went out in southern NH a few weeks ago but ended up turning around a couple times feeling like I was going to go through someones property. Also I'm a bit hesitant to head out on my own because i'm in a stock truck, and I've been reading everything on here so I understand it's a bad idea anyway...

All that said, anyone heading out in the near future for stock friendly wheeling, and doesn't mind a rookie tagging along please let me know! I'd be interested in anywhere up to 1-1.5 hours from central MA, No camping just a chunk of the day and back home.

Also has anyone bought the NH class VI digital map for $99? I was thinking about it but not sure if it's redundant with the Gaia stuff.

Next time people talk about the RI spot it’s close to you I’d say about 45 minutes from Worcester without knowing specifically. Not sure when I’ll get back out there but I’ll post up here when I want to.

That would be awesome! I read back though (probably too much) of this thread, and saw quite a few trips there a few years back. Definitely interested.. I'm about to order rock sliders and better tires, plus some basic safety and recovery gear. I would love to hit the western MA spots too once I have a rig that can handle it.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
    Who sells that NH map?

I’m also interested in the map, maybe a few of us can plan a trip and share the cost of the map.

I'd be curious to talk to someone who has bought it. You could have a list of class 6 roads in NH, but there's the other vague category as well which is more of a town to town basis. Wonder how many of those are listed

For that Uniden CB from Walmart is hardwired unless I purchase kit to convert to 12V and then I’d need antenae still if I’m correct.

Going to check it out a bit more and come back and ask for you opinion again in a day or so. Thanks for being so helpful!
