Hello, Can anyone have an idea ON How To solve my front Brake issue? I Have a 2016 Tacoma TRD sport double Cab. I Bought it Brand new But Just 2 months driving it my steering Wheel started shaking Everytime I stepped ON the Brake Pedal. I took it Back To the dealership And they Found out Its the front rotor was the problem. They Just resurfaced it But use the Same Brake pad And since Its Just 2 months Old they didn’t Charge me For anything. But After around a year driving it the Same problem occurred. This Time Toyota dealership Doesn’t want To fix it For free. So I Got pissed I brought it to big Brand tire To fix it. But I Bought my own parts. I Bought an Aftermarket rotor But the pad was OEM. But right now After 3 years the Same problem happening again And it Has only 49k miles in it. Some people Said Its my Way of driving or the Way I use the Brake. But I don’t believe it. Because I Also have a 2008 Toyota highlander And IM the only One driving it And it took me 9 years or 79k miles before I replaced the front rotor And pads. Does anyone have an idea?

It's common for steering wheel vibration to be the result of uneven pad transfer to the rotor. On occasion you can improve or eliminate the issue at home by scrubbing the rotors with high abbrasive scotch brite. Alternatively, some auto parts stores will resurface at a fair price. Resurface would also address run-out if that was all or part of the problem.

As to the cause, any number of things, including the pad material type. Ceramic pads are more common these days to keep wheels clean but they are more prone to uneven pads transfer as compared to semi-metallic. Comparing a second gen is not all that fair as even with identical brakes the difference in weight is a factor.

The majority of the time it is pad transfer, as Matt said.
The only way to mitigate it is by not using the brakes as hard and as long.
I know, it can be hard to do. Another factor is that once stopped, your now HOT pads are
transferring tons of heat to one spot on the rotor. You can try to stops short and roll forward some to help the dissipate heat to different spots on the rotor.

Really there isn’t much you can do other than buy quality brake components and do your best to “stay off” the brakes. Unless you want to upgrade to a larger brake setup? And I have no idea if they even make one for the 3rd Gen?

its the rotors and if they resurfaced them they should have put on new pads.. the pads were worn into the original rotors so i would recommend new rotors and pads together.

New pads should've been implemented with the rotors. Regardless, pads wearing off onto rotor are common as well. You can attempt to rebed them but the existing pads will typically conform to the contours of the rotor before resurfaced which is why new pads are always an inexpensive insurance replacement with rotors.

Brakes were not bedded correctly after being serviced.

Clean the rotors with a scotchbrite wheel disc and brake Kleen and your problem may go away.

PS, suggest you find a quality independent mechanic. Unless you personally know the players, a big box shop isn't your best play.

Resurface rotors and sand down brake pads lightly. That’s what I do.

You can click the multi quote on each response and then "more options" and attach all quotes into a single response! I recommend going to more options to expand the response text box.
