I have built something I think there is a market for but I need some community help for review and feedback.

This product deals with the ECT button on 3rd gen autos. For those who do not know, ECT is an acronym for Electronically Controlled Transmission. When pressed, the ECT PWR button will adjust shift points so you can reach higher RPM levels before shifting into the next gear. It's know to be a more enjoyable and sportier shift style then when not engaged as it allows the RPMs to stay in the engines power band a bit more.

I am willing to provide the item free for a trial period with the following guidelines:

    If you are...
    1. A 3rd gen Tacoma owner with an auto transmission
    2. You use the ECT button regularly and know what it does.
    3. You have 200+ posts in your TW profile
    4. You want to help beta test a new product
    5. Are open to signing a basic NDA for specific product use
    6. Willing to receive the item at no charge with the only expectation that you would install, provide feedback, and return the item.
    7. Willing to install a plug-n-play electrically connected item
    8. Willing to drill a single hole in a no-visible internal area of the truck (hold plug included to fill if needed)
    9. Willing to provide product feedback and survey response
    10. Consider providing statement of how you use product and an honest review
    11. Opportunity to keep the product after trial period (approx 30-days from receipt) at a significantly reduce price or mail back via pre-paid return method (within 45-days from receipt).
I am currently looking for (4) folks that meet the above criteria. Please post your interest here, the first 4 that meet the need are in but willing to see a few extra post interest in case anyone decides to back-out.

In the next 1-2 weeks I will have all the info ready and will contact you. At that time I will PM you and request contact details for email and shipping info that will ONLY be used for this item and the review effort. Past the trial window your information will never be used or sold in any way unless. The only thing we will mutually agree to publish or reuse would be related to a review statement with your initials and any name/alias or use case summary as a testimony.

If the trial and review period is successful I am in position to provide this product for sale and would be excited to offer it to anyone. I would update this thread and post to the BuySellTrade section at that time if we proceed with a launch.

Any additional posters past the initial 4 are welcome to note their potential interest but I cannot disclose full details of the product (yet). It would help if you took the 14-day poll to give me an indication of ECT button use --- please feel free to do that.

I am trying to give this a go, thanks for any interested adventures!

It's a new way to control ECT but really only has value for those folks that are toggling it. I was finding how much I enjoy driving with it engaged but when cruising on the hwy it could hold a gear and I would actually want it to shift. This is a way to make that toggle action easy and safe. I realize that interest will likely be narrow based on that.

I am interested. I'm always interesting in expanding options for these trucks. But I only use ect when I tow. Which is only about 30% of the time.
    But i do own both a 3.5 and a 2.7...

There are several ECT always on mods... is this another version of that or something entirely different. I currently have my switch tied to my MESO shift knob, but am always interested in other options that might free up that trigger.

I use ECT every time I get in the truck. Not really interested in a new way of activating though

I used to be the same but then I realized I could toggle it to upshift in certain cruising times. This was my solution.
    ....more to come

Can’t wait for the reviews.......I like that. I can upshift or downshift on command only if I use the sport mode. Ect is difficult at freeway speed, sometimes it hangs on 4th too long.

That was my issue also....the enjoyment of ECT "most of the time" and the pain of the stupid hang and switch to toggle. I'm hoping this hold more than my interest so it's great to see some comments coming from anyone.

If I understand correctly, when using ECT to make the transmission hold gears longer before shifting, you've prototyped a device to upshift when ECT isn't upshifting when you want it to?
