So ive built myself a nice 2011 tacoma access cab but its time to change it up. I found a gem of a 98' sr5 t100 xtracab 4wd in Seattle, and after telling me they were going to let me buy a flight up and complete the sale, they sold it out from under me. I don't blame them, but it broke my heart. Now im more determined than ever to find the t100 ive always dreamed of.

Must be 4x4, cant be black. Prefer white, bench seat, but im open to every xtracab 4wd. If you know someone with a clean one. Let me know. Will pay the right price for the right t100.

It’s basically a roomier beefier Tacoma with a 24 gallon tank. What’s not to love?

Honestly not sure why you would wanna trade a taco for a t100, better payload capacity, 8 ft bed? Worse towing capacity, slower engine, not as nimble off-road, worse departure, approach angles, larger wheelbase etc. Larger truck but lacks a v8. If you wanna get a bigger truck, get a tundra. You’re 2011 is a better truck. The t100 failed for a reason. 21 gallon tank in the new taco too.

I’ll explain my T100 interest further. With a baby on the way, I don’t need 16-17k in a truck That will be a 3rd vehicle. I DO want a truck that has more cabin space but not a bigger footprint (pt. T100). Don’t want, nor need a v8, or the extra weight and size of a tundra. With a budget for +/- $8k for a truck, I’d rather have one that was built in japan, by their industrial/commercial plant. On top of it, always loved the simple stylings of the T100, and their uniqueness. So no tundra. Yes if I was a single guy, sure my AC taco would be fine. 2nd gens are the best and I love mine. But I’m Gonna be selling and looking for a 3rd vehicle for shorter family camp trips, runs to the Lumber yard, and the occasional grocery run. Have had 3 tacomas, a 4runner, a landcruiser, don’t need any of those right now. Just a clean simple reliable old man truck that can handle what I need.

Also the T100 didn’t fail, it became the tundra. Ford sued Toyota bc T100 was too close to the f100 in name. So, as Toyota evolved the truck to fit the North American markets better, it grew and got a v8 to compete with the big 3 here. If you’re driving a tundra, you’re driving a T100. also, I’m definitely NOT a believer in bigger is better. Toyota was successful
Bc of it’s small trucks. So to me, the T100 is the perfect 90’s midsize. A small truck that was competing in a big market. While they failed the marketing test, people who had them LOVE them.
