Does $95/hr seem crazy high to come out and mow a small pasture?

Depends on what they're mowing it with. If it's a 50HP tractor with a 6' mower then yes, way high. If it's a 100HP tractor with a 15' mower then no.

    I have a 60HP with a 6' mower and charge $65 an hour.

Not if it's Tractor and bushhog without trip fee. I wouldn't pay $95 hr for a riding mower job though.
All depends on tool and terrain.

Thanks guys. Just another procrastination from everyone we're dealing with in the move. I had asked to have the field mowed before we moved in and now it's looking like not only will that not be possible but it's $95/hr. May just deal with finding someone ourselves after we move but its super frustrating.

Anyone want to recommend a mower that'll take on about 3 acres of field and an acre or so of lawn?

To be honest... Big Pine seems like it would be a nice change of pace. I drive through there on my way to Mammoth and it looks quaint. How do you like living there?

You won't want to mow the 3 acres with the same thing your mowing the lawn with, for long. If it gets too tall it will bog down a lawn mower and tear stuff up, mainly belts.

If you were to mow it all at the same time and keep up with it then a lawn mower would work.

I mow our yard with a zero turn, about an acre and it takes me an hour, give or take a little bit. If I had to mow 3 acres that wasn't lawn it would be with a small tractor and bush hog.

    I love it!!!

No shopping, limited restaurants, limited medical, resort pricing on everything, tourists overrun the area year-round (no offense), below freezing in the winter, 100 degrees plus in the summer.

I would not trade it for anything!!!
    Anything!

So would something like this is what we'd want?

I would rather go on the bigger end because in the future I think we hope to have more acreage, although I don't know if we'd ever have an open pasture this large so maybe this is too big?

If the 3 acres are not Silage which can be baled and sold or given to the mower, tedderer, baler person I highly recommend Goats.pats pix 069.jpg

That would be alright, the difference between the box store mowers and commercial grade mowers is huge. The price is also huge as well but the commercial ones are way heavier built.
