I was playing with Android auto in the driveway. I got as far as having Google maps up on the screen and playing a Santana album off my phone. Pretty cool

Yes new truck smell. I'm sure inhaling it up.

My dad was really impressed with it. He has a 2011 access cab. I think he is a little envious of the back seats. He also no fair when I showed him the storage behind them but he isn't allowed to get a new truck. LoL

Wow! That is an unbelievable tale of woe and makes me nervous to have the dealer do anything more than wash the truck. I hope you did not purchase your new truck from them again! Hopefully your new OR will fare better.

Sorry but I am not sure what you mean, exactly. Are you saying the banter back and forth between people generally happy for one another getting the truck of their dreams falls under fool theory?

No. I’m referring to people sharing their frustration with dealership markups.

Oh. Totally. It is absolutely crazy. But it seems like a national imbalance. No trucks in the West (or very limited supply) and plenty of trucks in the Midwest or Northeast. The dealer I bought from in CT (2 hours from me) has 12 Tacomas whereas dealers in TX and parts of CA have none. It is absolute madness ...

Slush box automatic. A Super White 3-pedal was my #1 choice but I could not pass up a $5k discount from MSRP.

Definitely. The dealership I bought mine from has a total of one Tacoma on their website.. a 4 cylinder ACSB RWD. They had about 20 in May.

Haha that reminds me I've brought my old truck (and wife's car) back there for Toyota Care oil changes and such. They do complimentary car washes when they do service, but I asked and it is not a touch free car wash. So I tell them NOT to wash it bc I usually only do touch free washes as I don't want the crappy brushes scratching the paint. Also, on my Tacoma, I have a frameless license plate holder on the front and so the brushes catch easily on the plate and bend it. Sure enough they run it through the wash and bend the plate! And they've run my wife's car through multiple times when I've asked them not. At least it hasn't damaged anything major on there yet. Also, they ignore me when I ask them not to fill the wiper fluid with their generic crap. I think I might be done getting service from there from now on...

I did buy my new truck from them though, but as you saw I was able to get a good deal done. The sales guy is a good guy who knows his Toyota trucks and they are a "no haggle" place which suits me (as long as they are well priced, which they were). I just made sure to just get the base truck from them this time though and no going through their third party vendors! I'll do it myself or at least pick the company who does the work myself and on my terms.

How does one get in touch with one of these brokers? Suggestions? I’m in the Charleston South Carolina area. Do they do used vehicles? My friend is looking for a 2500 or 3500 diesel work truck with an 8 foot bed in the $25,000 range. He has a very busy business and just doesn’t have the time to find one let alone one for a good price. He asked me for help which I don’t mind helping them a little but don’t really want to get involved as I just went Through the process of buying two cars back to back and also the mixing of something like this with a friendship could possibly turn sour.

So that is 8% off MSRP and 10% off, if you factor in the manufacturer's rebate. Honestly, given the environment, I would jump on that if I really needed the truck. If things were normal you could be looking at 12% to 15% (tops). I came in at 13%. I will be curious to hear what other folks think ... and it might be possible that I am missing something ... but I take that deal, grab my truck and get on with getting on !

That was before tax and reg. I didn't post the tax and fees because that seems to vary by state.

The rebate is already included, so its 8% with rebate. I'm in Chicagoland area, getting above 10% was months of negotiating prior to COVID even with slow / down sales back earlier this year and a few dealers never responding back. I managed 13% w/out the rebate in Late Feb, but like I said it was months of back and forth against dealers and a last minute end of month thing for my final deal.

St. Charles is garbage, they were the worst when it came to final price and customer service was sh*t too (they had initial best price quote, lowest trade offer, and then sold the truck I was test driving literally while I was sitting there working out the deal). Oakbrook was the best as far as pricing and customer service, I purchased my 19 from Elgin in November and got 13% off as well on a left over loaded sport ($43k MSRP, paid $37k), my 20 Naperville wanted the deal the most ($44.8k MSRP, paid $39k).

Inventory is low here, which is shocking cause Tacomas aren't really as popular here. But on an ordered truck you should be able to get 10%, I'd try Oakbrook or Naperville or Elgin Toyota unless you have loyalty to St.Charles.

Ah ... sorry I missed that. I thought it was 8% and then 10%. Misread that.

If I needed the truck -- or couldn't wait -- I would take 8% in this environment in a heartbeat. But I can't speak to the dealer obviously.

Agreed, dealers here are not negotiating on instock TRDs for less than MSRP and 8% isn't bad, 10% or better is hard to get here even in normal times.
