One time I went to wally world and they rang up a case of Mobil 1 for the price of a quart.

I kept doing it expecting them to get wise to it, but the cashier actually argued with me that the price was for the whole box.

I would pick up a case or two every time I got groceries. Its not like I tried to clean out the aisle on one trip.

Eventually I stopped buying it because I had so much oil I couldn't use it in years. Does it expire?

As far as i know oil isn't perishable like milk. I bought a few gals. of spectro syn-sno snowmobile oil years ago that i got on a deal at 1/2 price...been using it right along with no ill effects, just on a different sled now. Still looks pours and smells the same every time i open the jug.
On another note i was able to order qt.'s of mobil 1 synthetic atf from wally world at a much better price than other auto parts stores to.

I tow quite frequently and have some idle time more so than others so I change every 4-7k depending on how hard I’ve ran the truck during that oil change interval.

I bet the oil is fine, if anything I would just swap the filter and top it off.

You can take a sample of the oil when you change it and then send it off to blackstone-labs.com and they will give you actual numbers on the life expectancy of the oil. Its super easy to do, they give you free sample jars and postage and then you get a spreadsheet and actual recommendations.

Cost is like $25 last time I did it. They give you breakdowns on how the additives are doing and how much dirt is in the oil.

Then you can make informed decisions on when to change the oil.

This is from the BMW lifestyle that means we have to check our oil for bearing life because FUCK YOU BMW OWNERS that's why. lol

Regardless, I do it regularly on all my cars because I like being well informed.

EDIT: Now the test is $30, but it includes pre-paid postage where as before it did not so its about the same price with less hassle.

im a big mobil1 fan but recently i was watching this one youtube study and pennzoil is right up there with amsoil while mobil1 is near the bottom. think Amazon basic score higher in the gauntlet. never really sprung for amsoil since its not readily available here, think i might try some of that pennzoil goodness lol. as for rotella, i used to use that in my stis and superduty. nothing bad to say about it.

@1776Taco: thats awesome man! yeah originally? i got a polaris sportsman 110 for my boy to learn to wheel. i thought it was gonna be a perfect platform for him to learn cause ive had polaris before, they are a good brand. but man, i was wrong. in those three weeks i had that bike, it was nothing but issues after issues. anywhere from oil leaking out the crackcase, refusal to start, faulty wiring, "aged" suspension. you name it. and its not like it was wheeled hard. just around our acre lot which is flat ground LOL. anyhow, linked back up with the dealer and told em wassup. they already knew and wanted to make right. i pointed out the recon and that was that. i did some research and even though polaris makes their big boy toys, their kids quads is actually chinese made with the polaris branding added to it. not to down talk polaris cause i still like them. the polaris ranger i had was awesome and gave me no issues. but these hondas is just too sweet! the recon is perfect for my son, its bare bones too so he has to learn how to wheel with footshifting LOL.

Unfortunately a lot of companies will throw their names on Chinese crap. Like John Deere on the Home Depot lawnmowers for only $1000. You and your son will enjoy that recon for years to come. I ride nothing but Honda and they’re great. Is that screen the pic of the recon? Mines a footshift 2020 but doesn’t have the screen

I'd be more concerned with changing the atf every 15k miles if a lot of heavy towing. My older tundra transmission always shifted smoother after its 15k mile 4 quart fluid change.

I’m approaching 17k miles now. I’ll have to check into changing the fluid in my trans.

Mobil 1 or GTFO. Jk, Shell Rotella is really good oil. Much better than Super-tick from Wally world.
