Home Depot here In MN. Is not able to keep cedar in stock every one is building decks. Yesterday I wanted one 8 foot 2x4. None not even a twisted one. I ended up looking through the 12 footers (5 left) and found one that would work. Severely bowed but I was making legs for a deck table so the longest piece was 16 inches.

"IF" you can find it, try Spanish Cedar for outdoor tables or storm shutters. It does not rot and bugs do not eat it. It grows in South America in a wet & sand region. It is considered hardwood but it is not heavy. Kind of hard on saw blades and bits. I think it is the silica in the wood. It's a bout $4.50 a board foot.

Oh I know. It is amazing though the amount of times I’ve talked to people in other states that don’t realize West Virginia is not Virginia.

Just got my lumber needed to finish up some closet door raise panel and dining table/bench. Kinda disappointed for not being able to find 4/4 rough lumber but it will somewhat cut down the time for milling.

Letting the lumber acclamate for a couple of days
    D32A1000-DD24-46F1-ADBD-9B66E913FD74.jpg

Anyone have a good ideal to flatten the 10/4 by 8’ Long?

I made one of the sled thing for the planer but this is to long for it and heavy. It’s also to wide for my jointer. Thinking of making a router sled and running two parallel mills line on the piece edge then put the slab on a flat welded aluminum tubing frame to run through the planer? I think it will work but wondering if there is an easier way.
