I don't think the JBL speakers are that bad. Put in android auto and the headunit pumps out way more power than the OEM entune. Sounds great IMO

JBL actually makes some outstanding speakers for the money. The thing is (and this applies to all branded factory speakers) you don't know if JBL even designed them. More likely is Toyota (or a random company no-one has heard of) designed them and made a deal with JBL to brand them and JBL said those look fine to us use our name do your thing.

Regardless you could have the best speakers money can buy but if they are poorly positioned/calibrated with incorrect crossover settings they still won't sound good.

Last car Acura RDX, also had a Premium sound system and it sucked BAD. Also. moon/sun roofs are great for heating up the interior and burning your head when the sun is blazing. We ended up leaving ours closed most of the time, and the sunshade drawn because it just got too hot on our heads.
I have a 2019 SR5. I have upgraded the speakers to Rockford Fosgate, will eventually get an amp and sub installed. Until then it's still better with the new speakers then the "Premium" system from Acura ever was. Once you see what passes for speakers in factory systems, you will never want another factory system. Save a few bucks, go after market stereo - way better and get the Clazzio covers.

If whoever is listening loves it and is happy, that's all that should matter. Good better best is subjective. Count your blessings, some of us that can't deal with it are forced to upgrade to be happy.

Premium Lexus sound is by Mark Levinson. My RX350 has the normal sound and my Tacoma JBL system sounds way better.

I have that JBL Premium in my taco and am not impressed myself. It's clear enough I guess but I'm used to using my vehicle as the sound blaster at campsite or beach and this just does not project sound out of it even with doors open. I understand this can be a plus (no one can hear your tunes down the road) but I'm still..

I bought the truck for it's proven on off road track record. I ditched the entire factory set up and have a pioneer head unit alpine amp Rockford Fosgate 6x9 front and rear...and the cherry on top. Subaru tweets!!!

I believe all of it. I use the term because it's the term used. Sad deal for JBL perhaps

I'm just starting down the road of upgrading the 2020 JBL-equipped stereo. It's proving to be a huge hassle to research, but thanks to a bunch of info here and a lot of downtime spent Googling at work, I should be well underway soon. Upgrades will include new speakers all around, an Audiocontrol LOC, two Alpine amplifiers (one six-channel, one mono), and a subwoofer box replacing the smaller of the two rear seats.

I think I'll be able to manage a pretty clean looking install, though one thing I still have yet to figure out how to avoid, is cutting the factory wiring harness that comes from the JBL amplifier and goes to the speakers.

As long as I don't get too damned lazy with it, I'll be sure to throw photos up in a thread once I've got enough of it going to warrant a post.

I saw very little return after replacing the tweeters. I replaced all door speakers, added an Alpine amp and a full length(door to door) ported sub - all JL Audio and the thing rocks now.

What did you do to get it all wired up? Did you add a new amplifier or use the JBL? I'd love to hear more on how it went.

I didn't have the JBL, heard there were issues when trying to upgrade it - I had the Premium pkg.

I took it to a pro shop near me, being it was brand new, I wasn't going to poke around with the electrical as it's my daily driver, they fuk it up it's on them and these guys are well known to be very good and careful with what they do and they were, 0 complaints.

[QUOTE="SubZombie, post: 23884289, member: ge which makes can make them sound harsh and at the same time they are too large to sound good as tweeters. That said if we had control over the crossover point between the door and the dash speakers you could probably make them sound much better as is.

Question regarding the front door speakers. Are those just"mid bass"? I get vocals out of the back door speakers, but hardly any out of the front door speakers? Seems like ALL the vocals come out of the midrange on dash?

Anyone afraid of blowing out their JBL system prematurely? I could crank the volume to 100 with my windows down on the freeway. It isn't as loud as you might think, but I also don't want to prematurely wear out the speakers.

Anyone with higher miles than me notice a degredation of the tightness of the sound? More/less rattling or buzzing?
