I sorta (no, I honestly do) miss it. It was in the tail end of the muscle car era. Only came with the 327 but after my stepdad spent a weekend with it in the garage and about $200 worth of carb kit, plugs, distributor, wires etc. it ran like a million bucks to me. Oh... and dare I mention the best part? Bench seat baby!!! (Austin Powers voice for sure)

Bench seat proved invaluable for cramming my sony discman between the seats to keep it from skipping while playing music using my cassette tape adapter.

This. Offered 33,400 (35k with tax back for the trade) for my 18 sport, 14k miles and perfect "like new" condition. I'd be tempted to go see what the dealer could offer and deal on a new one, but the MSRPs have gone up so it's certainly going to take some out of pocket money to make the deal, I figure probably 3-4k on top of the trade, not bad but I dont really need it. Also wife said "no" :ballchain:

I settled on $33,500 from the dealer when I bought it brand new in April of 2018 (was a leftover 2017). Sticker was like $37,084 or something.

This is the time to sell guys, everyone wants to buy used, online dealers like Carvana and Vroom are the defacto " GO TO" dealers during these COVID times as they handle everything.

Factories shut down and there is huge demand for used Tacos/trucks and none to be had at dealers.

If there was ever a time to sell , this is it! Also check "Vroom" as they offered me significantly more for my moderately modified 2017 GTI, I came into that car $3000 underwater and traded it in to Vroom for almost exactly what I owed on the car. It was a crazy good deal. With Hertz not dumping rental cars onto the used market and COVID they are paying top dollar for cars. I was talking to a dealer the other day that was selling trucks to other dealers at full retail so those dealers could mark the price up even more as their markets would pay it. Crazy.

Also, a tip about Vroom, they will make you an offer thats valid for 48 hours. I suggest you sit on it, as they emailed me after the 48 hours was up and raised the offer like $500-700 dollars (Cant remember which).

That makes no sense. I have a 2020 OR 4x4, double cab , 1500 miles, automatic with every single option except advance tech pack and they offered nearly $39k.

Im not selling, as I got a stellar lease deal ($0 down, $350 a month) but I was curious. If you have a manual expect to get significantly less, its a huge black eye on an otherwise great truck, at least as far as resale is concerned.

So, are those 'offers' cash in the hand, or is it cash/down payment towards a new vehicle from them?

Other people in this thread said they got a check. Sounds like cash in hand to me.

Cash, check sent to you or your financial institution. They want the trucks and dont care if you buy from them.

However in some states if you trade in, you can save $1000+ on taxes by trading, effectively giving you more for your trade.

I sold my GTI to Vroom and within days of pickup they overnighted a check to VW credit.

ok, so Carvana wasnt interested in my '73 Corona..oh well :D. Being here in Hawaii they couldn't give me a quote for my '03 w/220,000 miles, all off road modified(by me) bumpers, rack, sliders etc. originally from Arkansas the nearest was Memphis. so i plugged in:

    L.A. zipcode 90019.... $4,046
    Phoenix zip 85001..... $3,910
    Memphis zip 37501 ... $3,923

Now, with that said, tacos are King here in Hawaii, crazy prices , an '03 ( give or take a yr) 1st Gen) goes from $6K- $14K. but in general all yrs of toyota trucks are big $$
IDK about mine... but usually i think people put those "i dont want to sell it prices" on stuff and then see which way it blows. check out the Craigslist hawaii.

** sorry, i know this is 3rd GEN forum, but didnt notice any 1st Gen Carvana post like this

Carvana's pricing doesnt make sense to me. I put in my truck with admitting scuffs, scratches, etc. and I got one price. Then I put it in with "perfect" condition all over and I got an even lower price!

Possibly. I also wonder if dozens of Tacoma owners "offering their cars for sale" is lowering the price because the algorithm believes there to be a surplus.

Thanks for the heads up! This is pretty crazy...I paid 24.8 for my 2017 OR with 25k a few months ago, now Carvana is offering 28.8!
I don't even need a car right now (with work from home & all) & I have 2! I'd be happy to cash out of one if I can make a few grand! I'll get another taco whenever I find another good deal. I'm gonna think hard on it...I may have to do this!

Well they would send your truck to the auction, not sell it on their site. They only pay decent money for stuff they can sell. Right now they are paying close or at retail for truck they can sell.
