Likely that most people don't have perfectly setup brakes or the rotor isn't straight or the brakes haven't been serviced and the pistons don't fully extend or retract equally. But in a perfect scenario they should wear pretty evenly.

Sintered wears out slower than resin but I don't know if it's significantly or not. If it's close enough then you'd just replace them both at the same time or swap front resin for rear resin

Welded on some steel tubing to my bed rack in order to accommodate two Yakima Frontloaders. I just recovered from breaking my spine in two places from a crash on a gap jump on my backyard, so it felt great to do something with my hands again. I’m very happy with it and to be hitting the trails again!

I have TRP quadiem brakes, absolutely love them. I haven’t looked at the DHRs to know for sure, but my quadiems use all the same parts as Shimano. Same tubing, olives, barbs, etc... without knowing 100% for sure, it appears Shimano, Tektro, and TRP all use the same parts so everything you could possibly need should be readily available.

I slowed down and made it the 1.5mile distance with only one short walk instead of 2 walks like Wednesday. Slower overall time but ran more and tougher on the lungs.

^ Good job Leathermatt, looks great. Glad you are up and around after such an injury.

Great ride today. I passed a spot I had taken a photo of my old bike so I thought I’d take the opportunity to try and duplicate that shot with the new bike. I missed the correct angle though. Same spot different lighting.

It sure is. It’s made by steelcraft. I would have preferred to swap out the bumper in retrospect but here I am lol.

Made the 100 miles! Actually really pushed to do this as I usually do multiple shorter rides, so I had to up my miles to get here. Feels really good though.

Found a cool tree growing out of the rock.

update on the weird shock damage: I did a complete tear down and inspection of the bike. Again, nothing loose. Nothing looking like broken carbon anywhere. Rebuilt the bike and regreased it while I was in there. (Took my chain off and put it in a ziplock bag with a bunch of simple green degreaser and damn that chain is shiny now). I also swapped the flip chip to the low position, and no new damage noticed today. I have an appointment on Tuesday to have my fork serviced, I think I’m gonna ask if they can service all of the linkages too and see if they find anything. Still waiting to hear back from Santa Cruz.

    Jesus dude. What happened?

Different rotor thickness on the DHR, 2.2 I think. But good idea to check on that. I know some manuf use the same pads and fittings as Shimano/SRAM. That would help a ton.

    From the ride today...

In need of an easier way to haul my road bike around. I hate throwing it in the back of the bed. I also hate removing the quick release front tire, so I’m not sure about those fork mounts I read about. I just usually do a small commute, maybe 15-20 miles to get where I’m going to ride from. My road bike also didn’t cost an arm and a leg like some of the ones I’ve seen on here.

Are you judging us Victoria? Have you considered a hitch rack? I use a rocky mounts monorail, you can snag one for under 200, doesn’t require wheel removal and easy to use

Pads and rotors aside, would it be convenient to have all of the other parts readily available because they are the same as Shimano? I didn’t think about brake pads though, I should look in to those.

We just finished building a new jump line, and the final launch wasn’t quite finished but I decided to send it anyway. The launch was too short (I knew this beforehand) and the geometry of it made it hard to maneuver in the air, so I went over the bars and inverted my spine. Compression fractures on T12 and T11, a nice concussion and a brain stem hematoma. Lesson learned: be patient with trail building and do it right, even if your exhausted from digging and just want to ride. [/QUOTE]

If anyone hasn't tried the Maxxis Dissector tire yet, go for it! I had it replacing the aggressor on the rear in a 2.4 and loved it but just replaced my worn out minion dhf in the front with the 2.6 dissector and am blown away.

Rolls so damn fast almost like a semi slick but with all the qualities I enjoyed in a minion. The assegai was also a great front tire but rolled to slow for my liking.

Still want to try to wild enduros from Michelin too, if they ever come back into stock...

Took Friday, July 31 off from work. Tried the Indian Creek Trail #800 from Rampart Range parking lot to Strontia Springs and back.

I enjoyed smelling the scent of pine for 4 hours. No covid for me. Knock on wood.

There were fields of flowers blooming:

This trail tested my endurance. I hiked with my bike (Trek Stache 7) on some of the steeper sections, which seems more steep in person compared to the photo.
