As posted above I also did the Center Console Grid-It mod. I just used adhesive Velcro strips... we'll see how long that lasts. I'd really rather not drill into any interior piece if I don't have to however.

The Ohio heat finally got to mine and the adhesive failed/turned gummy.

If you DO decide to add some small self tapping screws (like I did), then take apart the center console. Remove the plate from it to attach it to, don't do it with the plate still attached to the console lid or you risk going through it on accident. Ask me and my tiny hole in my center console lid how I know.

Yeah same here. I can’t navigate it at all yet and as soon as I put away the instructions I loose the steps lol. Have you upgraded your speaker system at all? I’m still bone stock other then the deck.

Yeah. I went with a quality Component system with Crossovers, and a kenwood amp, and a combo sub/amp. I'm in a Access cab, so I didn't bother with the rear doors. Sounds fantastic. The speakers that came out were laughable. I'm stunned Toyota would spec such garbage. They really count on the Tacoma buyer to want one SOOOOO BAD that they can cut corners in a bunch of other places. And, wouldn't you know, they're right! these stock sound systems suck.

i have these speakers mounted on Mr Marv baffles:

As for navigating...is the 907s wireless carplay or wired? It's basically three completely different systems. There's the Kenwood stock system interface/then there's the way it works when in bluetooth mode (wireless)/then there's the way it works in Carplay mode (wired, in my case) And each mode has it's advantages.

I'll say this though, the audio shaping capabilities and sound quality are stellar. The EQ is very technical. An Audiophile wants for nothing. I really appreciate that and I'm willing to learn the other crap.

Got my Rigid Radiance Amber light swapped out. I had a Rough Country Blackout Edition 20 inch before.

I wanted the Radiance because I love amber accents on the truck.

So got all four doors done with the Noico deadener. Question, at low speeds (driving around town) I can definitely tell a much improved difference in cabin noise. However, has anyone noticed wind noise from the door seals now appear to sound louder? I swear at highway speeds now I notice the wind noise at the door seals now seem louder because everything else is quieter.

How did you get your center console to stay open with all that stuff in the Grip-it? If I put anything heavier than a pocket knife in mine the console flops shut. I haven't looked to see if there's a way to tighten the hinge.

Another day spent on truck maintenance before I move back to NM in a couple weeks. Swapped out the spherical bearings, spacer and clips on my rear king shocks.

getting good use out of this HF press kit! Ujoints two weeks ago. Shocks today.

Fuck you salty as fuck Upper Midwest! Note the corrosion on the shock body. They look like hell, and that bearing is covered in rust.

Wisconsin salt does suck. I have to take that into consideration with any mod I do to the exterior of my truck. Can’t have a 4x4 and park it in the winter.:(

Yeah. It’s been rough. My shocks and coilovers look like hell. Things like the LCAs and rear diff are staring to look rough. I’ve been slowly taking care of all the damage from the winters here.

That’s a super nice system I bet the sound quality is excellent. I kinda figured I wasn’t going to be able to appreciate what the unit can actually do until I get at least the fronts in. This one is wireless CarPlay but I believe that’s the only difference between the two. The 905 is actually the one I wanted but they where out of stock and I was excited and impatient.

Looks great! Seems like a great adventuring setup.
Now I’ve gotta ask, since this is the major hang up I have on the idea of a topper - do you ever feel like your shell gets in the way of fully utilizing your pickup’s bed?

There are times that it does...mostly around activities that require me to have full use of the bed...Dump runs, wood cutting, hauling dirt, gravel, mulch or other landscaping necessities, certain types of hunting (mostly large game...Elk, Whitetails or Muleys). But I would not trade the advantages of the cap over those things...that is what trailers are made for...or better yet borrowing my sons F150 for the things that would beat up my truck (Don’t tell him I said that though hahaha). I love this set up and I think it fits with my current definition of a truck. One that is dependable, capable, and has enough gear loaded at all times that I could bug out and get away for a week with no advance notice. Speaking as an Elementary School Assistant Principal, it is also set up to where it could serve as a mobile medical facility, providing cover and the space necessary for student care in the event of an emergency scenario. Not sure I could achieve all that without the cap??? Thanks for challenging my thinking though!!!
