Thanks. I called Camera-Source this morning. They're sending me a new Reverse Trigger Wire.

No 'wireless' cams and head units available now ? Prob a lot more expensive, but makes for easy, clean install.

SO after much reading of these threads, and checking my truck, it seems that my 2014 base regular cab is not pre wired all the way. Only one wire heading to the cab. Looks like for $124 I can get the camera and the wiring I need to run all the way up to the head unit. Extra $55 or $65 for a Pop and Lock. My question is this, are all the head units compatible? I have a touch screen, and it give me the warning on startup. Just didn't want to go through all the trouble to find out that I had an incompatible head unit.

    Thanks

    Steve

If yours is the factory HU it most likely is compatible. I have never heard of a factory unit not having the correct port in the back.

    Hi Folks,

A quick question to throw in the mix, would appreciate any info. to help for i dig into it.

I've got an 09 AC, 4cyl, 5 spd, 4X4 basic truck. Although i have not opened the tail gate access panel, i can
see a camera lens in the latch and I do have the a wire harness loom coming
out of the bottom of the tailgate passenger side as well as the yellow label on the PS of the bed...
the label has been scratched off, so not sure what it said??

I am assuming on the 09, that the back camera harness is in the overhead cubby??

In the overhead, i do not see a 4 or 6 conductor harness, there is a harness that looks like a 10 to12 conductor harness...i'll have to double check to know for sure.

I do not have a Rear view mirror with any connectors coming out the top of it...
So pretty sure it does not have the LCD camera screen?

So my question is: If i could source the proper Rear View Mirror with the LCD screen in there
can i get the rear view camera to work out of the Rear View Mirror?

    Thanks again,
    PC

Hi. I know this is an old thread but I just purchased an 14 Tacoma Regular Cab Base Truck. It gives the warning on the screen, I have a white and yellow sticker at the rear of the bed and a wiring harness running into the tailgate. If if understand earlier comments in this thread there is a good chance the truck is pre-wired for the backup camera and all I need to do is hook up an OEM version. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Most likely its not prewired from the factory. As far as I know, all head units with the screen will be set up to receive the signal and that warning sticker as well (just to warn that some wires are there for tailgate removal, not necessarily the right ones). The only sure way to know is to look at that connector between the wiring behind the bumper and the tailgate. You need to look if the wiring there that runs to the cab has four wires, not just the run into the tail gate (which may have four wires even if the truck isn't set up for a camera.

OK. I'll check that. Thanks for the information.
