It's cause for flashing lights and a traffic citation.

Upon all roadways, any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.
    (3) On a road, street, or highway having two or more lanes allowing movement in the same direction, a driver may not continue to operate a motor vehicle in the furthermost left-hand lane if the driver knows or reasonably should know that he or she is being overtaken in that lane from the rear by a motor vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed. This subsection does not apply to drivers operating a vehicle that is overtaking another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, or is preparing for a left turn at an intersection.

He's right tho. I saw a state trooper pull a guy over for it. Was just chillin along in the left lane, no other traffic, not speeding. Trooper was in a hurry and came up behind him, the guy didn't see him, trooper slammed on the brakes and flipped on the lights.

I've seen signs in Oklahoma that say do not impede left lane, no mention of speed limit. In Alaska they go as far as to say if you've got more than X number of cars behind you, its time to pull over and get out of the way (thats on 2 lane roads though)

Differences in speeds are a problem. My uncle got pulled over for not speeding enough on the Houston beltway for that

Texas has signs that say left lane for passing only.

Those are my favorite signs when away from home. Clear indicator of fun cornering speeds. 2x for the cars and bike. 1.5x for the Taco.

I cannot even estimate the number of sports cars and sports sedans with $$$$ tires I see that go around corners on beautiful clear days at that posted speed. A corner wasted.

No kidding. Nothing like having to slow down for some nice sporty car while driving a taco with a motorcycle in the bed

I think the problem is that you don’t understand the concept of the passing lane.

Around these parts, you will get places significantly faster by sticking with the right lane. The left lane is the boss superior lane. Only the cool peeps and joe public law can be there.

I will often see cars stacked up four or five deep in the left lane at stoplights and the right lane empty. On the highways, peeps merging will be in left lane immediately after merging, which backs up, and then dart across three lanes and cut through the gore point to make an exit. Just being cool.

I believe it was George Carwin who said, and I’m paraphrasing here, “ever notice that the people going faster than you are crazy, and those going slower are idiots?”

This is the reason I got a new Tacoma.
Driver cut right in front of me. I T-boned the idiot. Police officer right behind me witnessed the accident.

Lol you sound like my mom. She used to play "left lane vigilante" until I told her that here in SoCal that sort of behavior can get you killed.

Too many road rage people here in CA and they can/will shoot you for this (or less!)

Best to yield the fast lane to avoid trouble.

I hear you brother. The do it because they only think of themselves.

It's not just Tacomas, they will do it to everyone but since you are in a truck the assumption is that you are not keeping pace. On the other side I had an Audi S4 and I had some A-hole pull along side and start yelling at me and flipping me off. I was in the right lane, driving 40 MPH in a 40 zone.

Here is some video of some jack-nard decided to stop in the fast lane of the freeway for me in June. I was in the 2020 4runner, morning commute and just got on the freeway. Lucky for you I got on the dash cam. The best I can figure is he thought he would be able to cash a check that day.

Y’all never driven in Rhode Island. It’s like preparing for battle every time you get behind the wheel out here.

road tripped all the way out to Michigan via Ohio instead of Canada, down to the Ozarks, to Oklahoma and then down to Texas, out along the gulf to Lafayette then up into the bible belt into the Carolinas our to the coast and then up into dc, into Pennsylvania (PS definitely swing it that wide and take the PA route if you’re ever in those shoes) and then back to providence through CT

I got cut off in buffalo. I got cut off in Houston. Someone pulled out on me going slow in BFE Georgia, I might be missing one or two small/minor occurrences. 6600 miles and basically one or two noteworthy things on the road. I drove 35 miles after I got home:

    4 emergency stops
    3 pull out and slow
2 left turn idiots (pull out to go across my lane but stop because the oncoming traffic isn’t clear yet)
4 cigarette butts thrown toward the truck just in general littering not a targeted thing
7 cell phone users swerving around 2 of which almost ran me off the road

RI is a concentrated massachusetts drives worse talks funnier. All y’all complaining about how bad and aggressive drivers are in Texas and whatnot, that shit is the training grounds, RI is the major leagues.

Ah so the answer is to have a gunfight between two moving vehicles on a public road. Gosh, sounds like a great idea.
