There are applicable Customer Support Programs for certain models with Blizzard Pearl and Super White Paint. No other colors have yet been identified as problematic. I have done the program on a few Corollas, I haven't seen the program support list mention the Tacoma.

It's frustrating because this is probably the 3 or 4th thread i've seen this week on it. Seems like its not an if, but a when these fail regardless of care that someone uses on the white paint.

Why do you even continue to engage in this forum? Seems like a waste of time if you don’t even have a Tacoma!! Weird.

Yep. Under color changes the final color, especially on high metallics

This has little, if anything to do with "single stage" paint. Camrys and Avalons use a primer/base/clear 3 stage and the problem is occasionally popping up in both 040 Super White and 089 Blizzard Pearl....even some Lexus models

I’ll be super pissed if this happens to mine a few years down the road. Talk about ruining a vehicle. Even if it runs flawlessly for 500k, nobody wants a vehicle that looks like absolute crap.

    Relax.
I'm on 3rd year and the paint is perfect. Dudes with peeling paint have that golden primer.

Least those areas are small enough to touch up for now......when it starts flaking off in sheets it will be a problem. Hope the paint doesn't fall off my 2019.

Exactly. '90-'93 white Miatas had the same issue. Once it started going, you could almost clean it off with a pressure washer.

But the prime/seal was bonded to the metal nice.

But Mazda fixed the problem. 27 years ago. Maybe Toyota should give them a call. :D

Weird could of sworn my under color or primer was the same on my cement as my super white was, got to experience plenty of chips in AZ.

Maybe so, but green, orange, blue will find a different color.

Typically Toyota uses 3 exterior primer colors...light gray, dark gray and white. Lighter colors use the light gray, darker colors use the dark gray and white uses the white.

There are some reds that get a red primer...although some reds like 3U5 actually get light grey. The old 3PO actually had white primer.

There is no green primer. The green you're seeing is an E.D. coating that helps to prevent corrosion

Cool that explains why that E.D. coating was the same on all my various colored Tacos. Any insight as to why SW seems to be prone to chipping easier than the rest.
