I understand that, but thats not what I mean. Maybe I'm mis-reading what that guy wrote. It sounded to me like he said Fox was ok with quoting a set number of inches, but in the same breath, says don't count the threads. When they're in fact, the same. I'd be more comfortable knowing someone can count X number of threads and not to exceed that number vs relying on someone's eyesight and being able to measure 3".
But I fully understand spring weight and vehicle weight and it's effect on how much it compresses the springs which is why you can't say across the board it's the same for each vehicle, unless everyone is stock in which case it should be relatively close.

too many variations between each vehicle and possibly each shock setup to view it in such simple terms. I also don’t see why you’re trying to translate preload into thread count. Just measure the spring length and you’ll get actual downforce per corner.

Thread count is not a universal language when discussing suspension. I guess to answer you’re question, you have to comprehend that Fox employees don’t specialize in Toyota platforms. Imagine how many inquiries they get from Jeep owners or the similar where each vehicle has its own intricacies. Why do you expect them to speak your language of thread count when there are other point of measurement that are applicable across a wider application of vehicles, such as preload.

Finally finished the overhaul of my coilovers..

Found someone local who rebuilt shocks. Had them taken down to the bodies.

Then sandblasted and cerakoted the bodies color is stainless. Friend of mine does Cerakote work on firearms.

Revalved...powder coated the coils, switched out adjusted knobs and decals. Painted the fittings on the hoses. I ceramic coated them dunno how well that will work, but what the hell

You did a great job. These look badass. This is how I want to do mine when its time to rebuild. Where did you get the orange and gray dsc adjuster if you dont mind me asking? I know it comes on the performance series as well as the better looking decals but can't seem to find where to just purchase those parts alone. Thanks in advance and again well done:thumbsup:

Fox sent me a set of orange decals for free. Just call them, may have to send and email. The will send you both the DSC strip and larger decal.

for the adjusters I got from accutune. if they are not in stock try Kartek, or polyperformace.

cerakote is H-152 stainless.. oven cured. And coil is black semi gloss powder coat.

if you paint the fittings, use VHT epoxy paint get it or auto zone or o’Riley’s. I Used krylon and it flaked off had to clean and repaint. And do it when everything taken apart. If they are assembled taping and masking is a pain.

    bypasses are still being assembled.

To cerakote the shock bodies I imagine there was alot of prep work..does added thickness of the coating interfere with the preload collar threads at all?

Prep work is disassembly and sandblasting the zinc coating off to bare metal then Cerakote..
Cerakote it pretty thin, but my Friend who does it sprayed it thin 2” down, then thicker on bottom. No it does not interfere, unless you spray is thick, multiple wet coats..

I contacted fox and they recommend Cerakote..

Got my Fox 2.0s from @AccuTune Offroad all buttoned up today with the help of a local member. While we were down there we added the wheelers ubolt flip kit and super bumps up front. The ride is pretty outstanding so far. I also have some Fox 2.5 DSC coilovers getting dialed in from accutune as we speak. Can’t wait to put those bad boys on 797844E6-91AB-432E-905A-014DDBCC3747.jpg534498C9-C462-44C7-8083-CA1949CC6248.jpg

I think I'm going to have to learn to live with it too, unfortunately. But damn is it frustrating. The specialty products spring compressors off Amazon work really well though. Figured I might as well give them a plug while I'm at it.

ive come across a pair of 2.5 coilovers with clickers for a sweet deal, but they are the 0-2 inch model according to foxes website, can they be adjusted up to 3 inches? I don't want to pull the trigger on these if im stuck at 2 inches of max height.

If they are 0-2" coilovers, no they cannot be adjusted to go taller. However, we can remove a spacer inside the shock to convert them to be a 0-3" coilover.
