I'm going to say yes (for my needs). All together I spent 8ish hours stripping everything out of the truck and slicing my hands up. Perks was I only broke one tab off the driver side door!!

I put bigger bigger tires on and I have little to no road noise (but the sound deadening was done first so it's not like I have something to compare it to). The doors finally have a little weight to them rather then feeling like a floppy piece of aluminum every time you open/close them. Mostly I did it for whenever I get around to upgrading the horrible audio quality from the stock JBL's so called premium audio.

Lastly, I've installed sound deadening in every car/truck I've ever owned (mostly because I'd like to call myself an audiophile and usually upgrade the stereo 1st in and vehicle) but the lack of options for upgraded audio (since we all have the *cough*WONDERFUL*cough* JBL audio) has been thoroughly maddening thus far.

 

I don’t know how you could ever abandon a pup like that, reminds me of my old yellow lab that passed a few years ago.

I second this after doing it in my last 3 cars. It’s not too expensive and makes quite a bit of difference! I want to change the speakers as well but it sounds like the headunit does some really weird things to the audio regardless if you have a separate amp so it’s best to go with an aftermarket unit. Problem is I like the look of stock...

 

I have so many questions and don't know where to begin. The ultimate goal is to get a diamondback taonneau cover bed rack and rooftop tent, Eventually will get a front bumper (I don't want to do any cutting) and rock sliders, and I would like to add 2-3in on my truck. For now I will keep the TRD wheel but looking at getting beefier tires. Outside of the SPC adjustable UCA, AAL and Spacer, and leafs, what else do I need to add to make sure I get the best ride and use out of my truck possible? I see you added nitro gears and E-Locker, is that something that is a must if I am going to do all the other items listed? What other items would be beneficial? Thank you in advance and sorry for the rambling in the sentences.

 

I'll do my best with your questions.

Your end goal of what you want to do is the single BIGGEST decision maker of what you should buy. Do you want to be a mall crawler? a overland camping weekender? or a big boy rock crawler? That is where I would suggest starting.

-- I only added the UCA for future proofing (end goal is 35's maybe 37's one day). There is a big difference between "beefier" tires and bigger tires. You can get a beefier 265/16. I installed the UCA for the alignment reasoning's for when I get my 35's, the goal currently is to leave the TRD suspension as long as possible (with the spacer), the UCA swap deff wasn't a must have for throwing 33's on.

-- The spacer and AAL was installed so I can have clearance for my 33's, again, the goal was to leave the Fox suspension as long as possible before having to replace it. The ride quality isn't going to ever get any better then it is stock (personal opinion), but I haven't noticed much ride quality degradation. Side Note -- I left the overload spring out, the rear sits about 3/8" lower and after further fourm searching apparently it's approx. 10% loss of load capacity, so I will be reinstalling it once I get a free few hours.

-- Gearing was a must depending on who you talk to. Me? absolutely. I was not a fan of the shifting points in the stock set up even on stock tires, and knew that it would only get worse with bigger tires and the eventual added weight. but i would consider it personal preference. The front locker install was I simply want to be able to easily crawl up things without having to actually try LOL, again just a nicety not a necessity (again, depending on your end goals). If you are going to re-gear you might as well do the front locker (one install cost instead of two)

-- In conclusion, the only required item's are the spacer and AAL if you want to put 285/16 or 17's on (in my experience). Everything else that I have done is for the inevitable rock crawlings that will happen sooner then later (just passed my 500m break in!!!!) living out here in Utah. Hope this helps!

 

I REALLY REALLY want OEM audio to figure it out. Leaving the stock HU in with the qualtiy they have provided in the past is my #1 option. If they end up taking to long I might just gut it all and start from scratch but I really would enjoy a plug n play option.

Anyone figure out a way to route wires from the roof to the cab and look super clean?

I’m really curious as well about how these tires do. I went with the 255/85’s so I didn’t have to worry about any rub, but wanted the 285’s Curious to know about your gas mileage too? Hyper tech makes a solution to get your speedometer calibration right. I haven’t bought it yet but plan too eventually. I still need to install my headlight trim plates and power locking tailgate. Ordered some sliders and a hitch skid the other day from the Warfab guys. It’ll be a couple months before they are done though

I bought it, fixed things right up, I’d recommend. Either a coincidence or it really helped my mileage. I’m ovtuned as well but went from averaging 16-16.5mpg to 17.8-18.2 or so now.

 

Good on you taking the dog home with you. she doesn't look like in that bad of shape minus a nail clipping.

 

Thanks for the in depth answers. Super helpful. I don't ever imagine doing any rock crawling, not a whole lot of that in Missouri. Probably a 1% chance and that one time will be something novice and nothing crazy. The family is looking more of weekend overlanding, with some off roading, and a bad ass looking rig.

 

How is everyone running the lighting wire from the roof into the cab/engine compartment?
I'm really disappointed that the Meso/UpTop Overland sharkfin antenna replacement doesn't work on the 2020 models and I would really like to get that clean look with no exposed wiring.
Need to install my antenna for my GMRS radio and like to put it on the roof.

On a side note, got the radio installed partially. Have gotten the ditch lights installed but not hooked up. Waiting on @AY_ARONTRD to get back to me on a design for the

SP9100 switch install plate. This is also needed for the lights that will be in the roof rack that I will be getting soon as well.

Finally got around to installing these @CaliRaisedLed molle panels got them from a member for like 1/2 price. A few scuffs here and there but can’t expect more for the $ paid. Fit next to the lomax tonneau perfectly. Not sure if I want to drill holes in the bed to use the install holes on the rear left one. Anyone w/ the cleanest idea to install this? Maybe a anchor? Safe to drill there? There is no cubby on the 2020’s for it to attach too, but seems pretty sturdy without them. Some cutouts for the bed lights would be a nice addition, and some to retain the front tie downs as well I need to not be lazy and clean them up and maybe touch up w/ some matte black Rustoleum I have in the garage

Pretty much what @StormTroop425 posted up. It's a simple, easy, under 100$ mod that gets rid of the ugly ass chrome handles. I tried vinyl wrapping before and it lasted all of a week before it was bunched up and looking like crap.

 

Um? This for me or?
