    Looks like a good idea, although not OSHA approved. Oh never mind I forgot you were above 49°N. I would do it like that too.

    BTW, I have never seen rebar or scaffolding with out rust. That must be nice to work with.

    Very much in awe of your new shop build @OZ-T

    Where abouts in BC are you located that requires such stringent seismic-bracing requirements?

    Been helping my parents build/restore a 12'x20' shed on the Sunshine Coast that was completely neglected by previous owner of property.

    Wish we had the budget and technical knowledge to build what you've got in progress!

    I would be in the same seismic loading zone as you are in Vancouver , part of the reason driving the upgrade in seismic restraint in this building is that it does not conform to BC Building Code's Part 9 brace wall bands requirement so it gets moved to a Part 3 seismic requirement designed by a structural engineer and there are also 2 walls we upgraded to deal with the loading I am going to inflict on them with a heavy duty lumber racking system

    Hard to see in the pic but today I made a 8'x24' plywood drawing board so I could lay out my timber trusses and rafter details full scale before I commit to cutting anything



    Tomorrow I start prepping timbers

    The 14' 8x12 and 8x14 I ripped 3 of those 6x6 out of actually pre-date that 2008 timber purchase and the 20' 6x7 I got the other one out of is a remnant of some other timber that I can't remember which job it came from lol

    The fruits of today's labour

    The 3 / 14' 6x6 give me all the 7' posts I need for the outside shed roof area and the 20' 6x6 will split into the 3 king posts I need for the timber trusses

    all pieces cut and belt sanded



    I'll start on the timber rafter elements of the trusses on Monday
