That’s underneath the water. Assuming we’re counting truly as “beer”.

Was cool to see the topper in person. Hope with some moving around it will fit and seal better.

Figured I'd give an unsolicited review and ask for advice.

I went camping on my days off and decided to go up Union Springs on the way. Having run into this obstacle fairly early in my journey,IMG_20200730_135816.jpg
I thought I'd give my newly purchased hatchet a try. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Fiskars-14-in-X7-Hatchet-378501-1004/202681690

One hour and two Coors later, success!IMG_20200730_155535.jpg

This brought me to a question:
What's everyone doing to confront downed trees on the trail?

I bought my hatchet to deal with firewood, not downed trees. In this scenario, I lucked out that the hatchet was sharp (plus time and alcohol-induced strength), but ideally, I shouldn't be spending the better part of an hour to cut a tree in half.

It seems ridiculous when I write it, but should I be bringing a chainsaw with me? Of course, I could bring an ax, but that would seem to only slightly increase the time spent on this problem.

If you were wondering, had a terrible time camping. Didn't anticipate the rain and my tarp was too damn small to keep my kitchen dry. Learned a lesson for next time. IMG_20200731_074125.jpg

First of all, way to help the area by clearing the tree. Second, yes to a chainsaw! There are a bunch of electric one for less use and gas ones are better for bigger jobs, but they are great to have for this. @EatSleepTacos & I both have a dewalt 20v and we have cleared some HUGE trees with them.

Most of the Aussies I follow on YT have a chainsaw with them? I implicitly trust them with all things camping and touring tbh.

I have the Dewalt 20v chainsaw as well and the little thing is a friggin eager beaver. Just make sure you have a couple batteries and a charger if you're cutting a lot of wood.

The dewalt 20v 12" chainsaw is a perfect trail clearing saw. Doesn't require any gas and packs small. With some strategic cuts and a winch, I've cleared some mighty trees.
