LOL...Love this...I've bought SO many high end vehicles (Audi, BMW, Conversion Vans/GMC Suvs, etc)...I used to be SO very impressed by that - I honestly did.

Why because you later found out they presented you with a gift wrapped piece of shit?

I have friends with BMW's and my sister had one. Nothing but problems.

Not my first Tacoma but the very first one that is exactly what I wanted without paying a Gulf State Toyota dealer a single dime. 2 Texas boys in Olathe Kansas June 19, 2020 to pickup our new OR...build date of June 2020 from Baja Mexico which I thought was pretty cool. Hell of a Dad's day with my son coming back home that weekend. Side note...we've never had Braum's ice cream...it's all we saw up there. Couldn't wait to get back home to get some Blue Bell. ;-)

Dealer pic and transition pic a week later. No more chrome or stickers anywhere as of a week ago and sold rims/tires too.

HA! I've enjoyed some of the vehicles - most of those high end have been my wife's over the years...she currently drives a high top conversion GMC van (like a small apartment - huge flat screen, leather captain chairs, lights everywhere - in and out, great sound system, etc). She LOVES it and drives it everywhere, it's big but she is a stay at home mom and we live on a horse farm and the size is not much of an issue ever - in fact no more so that would be a big full size truck. When she is ready she will get another High Top probably - though I've tried to hint about a Landcruiser. When we go buy one they will make a big deal, and I'll try to not be a total ass hat. As far as BMW - we've only had a couple (I think) - She had a 7 series BMW several years ago that I REALLY enjoyed driving - it was a nice vehicle but again HUGE depreciation. I think the biggest reason I hate the pomp and circumstance IS resale value - or just VALUE. I remember one specifically - a GMC Yukon XL Denali. I think it was around 70K..she had it 2-3 years and when I went to trade and realized the value...UGGH. It was not unique and I should have been used to it - it just hit me, LOL...I'm not sure why that car stood out so much. I think it is more so the fakeness (sp?) of the experience...I mean you do not have a relationship with those folks - it is a business transaction. Nothing more, nothing less. You are buying something that will certainly greatly depreciate. You are knowing that going in - at least I am - most do. I am consciously deciding to spend a lot of money purely for the pleasure...that is OK...I just do not want to be applauded by a bunch of strangers treating it like I was just allowed to purchase Amazon Stock at 100 bucks a share. Sorry I rambled...

True story...Romanian people love their BMW's and Mercedes vehicles...anyways, we know this family that like to look the fake rich part. In the past we went camping with them...they drove their 7 series up in the bush, we drove our Honda Pilot (bought new in 2004...extremely reliable vehicle, still own). He's a machinist and his wife works at Walmart. He drives an X5 now and his wife an ML. He's told me that both BMW and Mercedes are money pits, everything that could go wrong it will go wrong, basically constant repairs...here is my lowly Pilot (before Tacoma) and other than wear parts like timing belt, spark plugs, tires and battery did not need anything...he was shocked to find out the difference in reliability!...but he insists on being seen in those things because it makes him and his wife look rich...as per his words...but i said to him: but your wife works at Walmart buddy...

I have a weird fascination with the 4 banger SR's. I think it's because they are so simple and humble, but awesome little work horses. I'm trying to convince my nephew to get one. He wants a GMC sierra or Chevy Silverado.

It's gets old watching Tacoma reviews on youtube and most of them review the highest trim level of trucks like the Pro, Lariat, ZR2, Denali etc...

It's the model the manufacturer makes the least of, so very few will get it. So it's like why bother?

    None.
0 percent financing finally made me pull the trigger. Has 3500 miles on it now, wife and I are taking it on a road trip from Seattle to Yellowstone, then Zion and back tomorrow. Love it so far.

Thats a great point! I see this as my blank canvas! I truly enjoy checking out all the beautiful Tacoma's here...all trims...but I will never get to that level. Im kind of a simple man when it comes to certain things. I won't be doing a lift, I will most likely upgrade wheels and tires, simple things like a bed mat, softopper...simple daily driver & weekend get-away-4x4! Was worried about the 2.7L but the more I drive it...the more my smile GROWS...
