If you’re looking for a Tacoma TRD Pro, make sure the VIN listed starts with a 5. I’ve gotten super excited about on-line listings, only to run a VIN check and see that they aren’t Pros. All Tacoma TRD Pros are made in Texas. Don’t overpay for a truck you think is a Pro but is a modified TRD Off-Road. Also note that some of the modified Off-Roads have better suspensions than the stock Pro and are way cheaper.

Built OR > Pro, thats just an opinion, we all got one, doesn't mean its fact or same as yours (clearly not), though many here share this opinion as referenced by OP's statement "Also note that some of the modified Off-Roads have better suspensions than the stock Pro and are way cheaper", Pros are still sweet in their own right but as with anything it can be built better and likely cheaper, though some would prefer stock for resale, warranty, etc.
But yes the 5 VIN number indicating built in TX is common knowledge for us that have been here awhile, PROs are exclusively assembled at TMMTX.
