I used the crawl control on my 2019 OR yesterday for the first time. I was in 4LO and selected a mid point on the speed input dial. When going down a slight hill the truck started making grinding noises and the truck started moving in a jerky manner. I I was not a very slick area, is this normal? to make noise and move in a jerky manner? or is something wrong with my truck?

    Thanks

Sounds normal, all Toyota Trac control sounds like your gonna die at least from what I've seen.

Pretty freaky right? Sounds like the anti rollback on start feature? Unfortunately that's the sound that crawl contril makes while using the brakes to maintain speed. Try it uphill or flat and it will make you hate it just a little less.

Normal, it's using the ABS to control wheel speed.

Sounds normal. Crawl control makes some weird noises and I wouldn’t call it smooth.

I don't have crawl control - but from watching reviews on youtube - I think toyota may have the worst crawl control software calibration of any brand

If the whole truck sounds like it’s falling apart, crawl control is engaged and working properly!

thank you for your input from YouTube reviews instead of personal experience. Were the videos titled “YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE SOUND MY TOYOTA TACOMA MAKES”?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Hotels used to have beds that did that for a quarter.

Recently bought 2017 TRD off road. Not only do I have the dreaded crawl noise, I have a similar noise when normal driving. Let's say I am in 2wd on city street with a steep grade and come to a stop at stop sign. When I take my foot off the brake to use the gas pedal the truck will of course roll back just a bit. When that happens, I get that scraping, grinding, clunking, metallic noise. Very disconcerting.

Yup, it's normal. I used crawl for the first time a few weeks ago, even though I was prepared for the noise from watching YouTube videos of it, I STILL thought something was wrong when I turned it on, it's a lot more loud than I expected.

That is also normal, or by design.
