Someone told me that waxing your headlights will cause them to dull over time...Any truth to this comment. I usually wax them every time I wax the the truck.

Mine are 10 years old and clear as when they were 0 years old:D I wax them 4 times a year. I took this pic today. I should tell you that I don't use "wax" I use "sealant glaze" which is a polymer type sealer with petrol distillates. I cannot tell you what results you would get with auto wax.

    Stock. Purchased 2/17/19. Cement!
I recently replaced my headlights for the smoked chrome, but before that I too waxed my headlights. I've seen some other 2006 Tacomas with the faded color on them. Mine were still clean and clear. Plus they help with the scratches from a lot of washes.

Wax won't hurt your headlights. There may be better products out there than typical car wax to protect your headlights, but waxing them when you wax the rest of your truck is a good practice.

there is a product you can get that is just for plastic...cant think of the name of it now but i got it out in the shed. i use it on all the light lenses ,bug sheild, window vent visors, and it works pretty good too. however now that i see others use wax ill prolly just use that when i run outta this stuff

I don't know if it hurts it or not. I will say my buddy's wife's 2009 Accord had hazing at the top of each headlight. When he took it to the dealer....they wouldn't warranty it becuase they said apparently.....when he was waxing the hood it would get on the headlights. The service manager and the body shop manager both said that wax would dull headlights and therefore it would not be warranty repaired. They charged him $75 to buff out the headlights.

I say BS.....but he's pretty mild mannered and accepted the resolution. This was just 2 months ago at Roswell Honda in Roswell, NM.

Wow....the nerve some dealerships have. That is complete BS and I would not have on any terms accepted their statement. I wax my headlights once a month...keeps them clear as day. Maybe your buddy left the wax on the headlights allowing the sun to bake the wax into the lense. I might be able to picture that affecting them.

    BTW..hello to fellow NM member!
