CMC, pinch weld seam flattened to the outside, and just sprayed krylon paint. No leaks. Took my time. Here are a few pics during the process. I didn't go all crazy with the hammer. I am only running 285x70x17 MT. I knocked this mod out in only a few hours.

Is there another option, using a fender roller?

I don’t see that working in any way.

I apologize but I don’t feel like formulating a response since I’m about to go to bed. I know that’s not helpful. Maybe someone else can chime in.

If you adjust it to hit the pinch weld, it should fold it over. Rolling the fender wont help.

That’s what I meant, using the fender roller tool adjust it to roll over the pinch weld after a few taps to the outside.

Then yes it would be much cleaner than a sledge hammer. The bottom 2" of pinch weld is pretty beefy and I'm not sure the roller would work. Not too familiar with the pressure they can apply but the top of the pinch weld is easy to fold over.

I'm not sure if a roller can follow the lines properly, isn't it a fixed length once you start? And idk if it can flatten the bottom part because that's the PITA

Won't work, my goodness, just grab a BFH and be don'e with it. Only took me a few minutes for each side.

Welp. Beat the shit out of my truck this weekend. It was actually really easy. Less than 5 minutes per side. I honestly thought it was going to be a lot harder than that.

And when I say beat, I really mean gently tapped with a 5 pound sledge. It was so soft and supple, just folded over like molding clay with each bang. Working a little at a time and massaging up and down the weld.

Polyvinyl chloride. The 3/16” thick blue yoga mat in the pic with the sledge.

Started the process, couldn’t get enough leverage to bash the bottom. Had to hold off. Until I could go to a place where I could take the tire off. So much easier that way. Thanks for all the advice. Glad I took the time and did my research and decided not to cut splices in the pinch weld, just a piece of mind thing for me. Also will mold the fender liner back after the undercoating drys. A20683F7-7A15-46CA-AF8F-1E6435A1E49A.jpg5C3EAB12-3F88-42E6-BCEC-365EF1179300.jpg

Nice! Did you also apply seam seal?

Would it be wise to apply seam sealer, then spraying rubberized undercoating? Or would rubberized undercoating be fine itself?
